Another little something! Prior to this, I'd never even heard of Pollstar. As I've found, the majority of it is just for insights and statistics -- But we got lucky! Here it is....
POLLSTAR; MAY 5th, 1997
Plus, some tour dates from way back when. Pretty neat!
But no one likes the “new” Linkin Park lmao
hi sea did you see new pollstar article about Louis headlining F1 grand prix in La?!
They basically went and wrote how many tickets are sold by each headliner Kane and Louis just to make it clear difference lol how petty. Let's see who will get more attention 😌 nobody can make me like Azoffs istg
BERLIN, GERMANY – SEPTEMBER 07: British singer Louis Tomlinson of the former band One Direction performs live on stage during day 1 of Lollapalooza 2024 at Olympic Stadium on September 07, 2024 in Berlin, Germany. (Photo by Gina Wetzler/Redferns)
“British singer Louis Tomlinson of the former band One Direction”. First of all, a certain other ex-1D man wouldn’t have this post-1D description.
Pollstar (owned by Irving Azoff) is mainly a trade publication, and the readership is the music industry. The focus is on data, revenue, and charting. Some musicians focus a lot on numbers, some don’t, but all have to be aware of the bottomline. Luckily, Pollstar is here to help instill anxiety about survival in the industry!

The lineup of performers for the 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix has been announced, with Louis Tomlinson and Kane Brown confirmed to headline. Further performers for the Nov. 22 event include VAVO, DJ Pee .Wee, Steve Aoki and Kaskade.
Kane Brown kicks things off with a pre-race performance that leads into the driver introductions and Drivers’ Parade. With 171 headline reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice since 2015, Kane has sold a total of 1.3 million tickets, grossing $100.w million. On average, Brown sells 8,087 tickets per show, with an average gross of $586,304, according to Pollstar’s Boxoffice. Throughout October, Brown performed at arenas across the UK, including at The OVO Hydro in Glasgow and OVO Arena Wembley in London. Brown is managed by Neon Coast’s Marth Earles and booked by WME’s Braeden Rountree worldwide.
Louis Tomlinson will perform on stage with an exclusive F1 Grid Gigs presented by American Express following the Drivers’ Parade. Tomlinson recently announced his third studio album, How Did I Get Here?, which will be released on Jan. 23. His world tour kicks off on March 23 at Barclays Arena in Hamburg, Germany. The European leg wraps up on May 3 at The O2 in London before heading to North America on June 3 at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. Tomlinson is managed by Seven 7 Artist Management’s Matt Vines and booked by Wasserman Music’s Marty Diamond in North America and by the agency’s Alex Hardee and Holly Rowland worldwide (excluding North America). With 107 headline reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice since beginning his solo career in 2017, Tomlinson has sold 772,884 tickets, grossing $45.8 million. On average, the former One Direction bandmember sells 7,223 tickets per show, making for an average gross of $428,656, according to Pollstar Boxoffice reports.
Anyway, statistics are easily manipulated, and we can see that there are holes in the data. Louis hasn’t been touring as a solo artist since 2017. He had two tour concerts in 2020, and the majority of tour concerts in 2022-23. So basically he sold about 700,000 tickets in 2 years (of incompletely tabulated concerts- see below), and the last 4 years of his career have been his most active as a solo artist.
Louis also played about 160 shows on his two world tours, but the “107 headline reports submitted to Pollstar” are probably the ones affiliated with Live Nation. Perhaps concerts with other tour promoters were not accounted for (same goes for Kane Brown) and therefore were not included in the calculations. There is no obligation for other tour promoters to share their receipts (and therefore reveal contractual terms) with Pollstar.
There are no factual errors in the article, but the omissions are misleading, and one does have to read between the lines (“according to Pollstar Boxoffice reports.”).
However, kudos to both Kane Brown and Louis Tomlinson for having a lot of fans!

Arctic Monkeys have an air of calmness around them.
If you look into the eyes of frontman Alex Turner, it's like looking into an ocean of tranquility.
It seems to define how the band has been conducting its career for almost 20 years now, releasing seven studio albums, averaging at about one every three years, in times when some managers, labels and marketers, driven by streaming economics, encourage clients to release constantly.
None of their work sounds even remotely alike, which only a few bands can pull off without losing old fans.
And they don't overplay markets when touring the world, fully aware that more a lot more tickets could be sold.
You can do all of the above when you know you're just that good.
From their songwriting to their live performance, it is all delivered with a complete sense of a steadfast identity.'
