Ended up making another @fanartfrenzy for the same fic!!! Again, from @st0rmyskies’s poly!Sky au that I love so so so so much

Things I should be doing: editing LMTCOY.

Things I am doing: drafting a short, sweet poly!Sky thing that starts with itty baby Sky.

“Do you know why I asked you to stay behind today?” Sky sat with his face downcast, focused on the feather he fidgeted with in his lap. “No.” Horwell knelt down to Sky’s level, dropping his head until he could catch Sky’s eye. The gentle smile never left his face. “Do you want to tell me what you and Fledge were doing outside at recess?” “Playin’ butterflies.”  “And did something happen while you were catching butterflies together?” “Yeah. Fledge fell down.” Ah. This was part of the story Cawlin had left out. “Was he hurt?” Sky nodded gravely. “Skinned ‘is knee.” Horwell clasped his hands in his lap. “Why didn’t I hear about this after recess?” Sky’s little face pinched. “We cleaned it up, an’… it didn’t bleed a whole bunch.” “You cleaned it up,” Horwell gently prompted, “anything else?” Sky said nothing for a while as he stroked the length of the feather, watching how the vane sprang back after being pinched. But Horwell was patient, and eventually, Sky quietly admitted, “I kissed it.”  “You kissed his knee?” “He was gonna cry!” Now, Sky leaned forward in his chair urgently. “And if he cried, Groose and Cawlin would’a made fun of him, and that’d make him even more sad! So I kissed it better.”

Sky’s Notebook

My first little art for @fanartfrenzy!!!! In @st0rmyskies’s poly!Sky au, Sky keeps a page of date ideas for each of the Links, and that idea has wormed its way into my brain and settled itself forever. I’ve now written a fanfic and drawn a fanart for that fic, lol. POLY!SKY I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!! He just has so much love to give 😭😭😭💞💞💞💞💞💞

Assuming this is for poly!Sky...

What is the pettiest thing they've ever argued about?

The proper recipe for pumpkin soup. Sky insists it must be sweet, creamy, and thick. Sun thinks he likes it a little too sweet. Twilight favors a savory, pepper-y soup with meaty chunks of fish.

Warriors believes that soup alone doesn't count as a meal, and the texture of any squash-based soup makes him want to retch.

More than one pot of simmering soup has simmered too long during this argument.

What's the most embarrassing thing they've walked in on the other(s) doing?

Sky is known for some of his more creative sleeping positions. If he succumbs to a nap in a bad spot, he might slide off of the bed or other piece of furniture and get stuck ass-up--which he will continue to blithely sleep through. Because photographs don't exist, the others must resort to pantomiming the position later on during dramatic retellings.

Warriors will sometimes hum or sing quietly to himself as he's working on mundane chores. When he thinks he's perfectly alone, he tends to choose those more bawdry songs that kept exhausted men lively enough to work through it in the army. When caught singing about how some poor schmuck's wife was "born and bred a harlot, at night her thighs were lily white and by morning they were scarlet," he denied the incident up, down, and sideways when the others tried to sing it later (badly).

Twilight's canine condition causes some embarrassment on occasion, especially in moments when he forgets himself and does wolfy things in his very human body. Like chomp down on a stick--just to see the texture!!--when he didn't realize anyone else was coming out into the yard.

Sunny is perfect and has never done anything embarrassing, ever, in her life. Like mount her Loftwing and tumble right off the other side. Or snort while she's laughing, only to laugh so much harder. Or belch (lies, she competes with the boys and you know it).

Just think about poly!Sky around the holidays. He would LOVE every part of holiday celebrations. Warm cocoa by the fire, big fuzzy sweaters with matching warm socks, nothing to be done except spending time with the people he loves. And he would spend so much time and effort picking out the most perfect gifts for everybody. Or making them himself!!!!! Just like his list of date ideas, Sky would have lists in his notebook for the perfect gifts for everybody. And he would put so much love into every single gift.

There’s simply no way the others would be able to match Sky’s gift giving powers and they would be forever guilty about it 😂 Until one year they all come together and are like ok. This gift giving disparity cannot stand. We need Sky to feel as loved and understood and appreciated as we do every single time he gives us a gift. And then they all work together to plan Sky’s Perfect Day and he WILL cry about it 🫶

The resolution comes after the Solstice holiday, when Warriors is contemplating the embroidered border on the new tabard Sky had gifted him with. "We can't let him get away with this every year."

"What d'you mean?" Twilight pretends like he doesn't get it, like he hasn't been staring at the hand-tooled patterns on his new boots since he opened them. Sky is soundly asleep next to him, his head in Twilight's lap.

"The gift-giving." Warriors frowns at the leaves stitched in groups of five, one for each member of their little family. "It's too lavish."

"You're ridiculous," Twilight snorts. Sky doesn't so much as twitch.

"How many hours do you think he spent on those boots!?" Warriors shoots back, gesturing at Twilight's boots sitting on the floor between them.

Twilight opens his mouth to fire something back, but stops midway as he considers the question. He goes quiet with a thoughtful hum, color darkening his cheeks.

"He outdoes each of us for every event: holidays, birthdays." Despite his severe tone, Warriors is still holding the tabard up to his shoulders and looking at his own reflection in the dark windows, turning this way and that. "We've got to put a stop to it."

"Well, good luck on that." Sun is draped in her soft new shawl as she settles in with Lyra for an evening feeding. "Gifts are how he says 'I love you', you know."

Warriors makes a quiet, disgruntled sound.

"Askin' him to stop would send the wrong idea, too. But," Twilight ventures, his brows quirking upward, "there's no reason why we can't try beatin' him at his own game."

... Thus, gift-giving becomes a competition among Links in the poly household.

!!!!!!! You're the one who wrote the polyamorous disaster sky series right? I just wanna say I love that series and it was my introduction to linkshipping, I hope your blankets are soft and your pillows are pleasantly cool <3

Yes, poly!Sky holds a warm place in my heart and I’m so glad you enjoy it! And here I thought Wildlight was usually the gateway to Linkshipping.

I have started an original work based on that series. Since its inception, the idea has gone sideways in its own direction, but there will definitely be some recognizable characters in there for those of us who enjoy poly!Sky.

Ace what are your top 2-3 favorite things about Sky? Any iteration.

Ok. Ok. Okkkkkkk ok I’m going to be broad here and go with my favorite character traits to see in all the iterations of Sky or Skyward Sword Link I commonly read. In no particular order:

Sky’s kindness is a choice. He wakes up every day and chooses to be kind even when everything else in the world is fighting against that choice. There is an unbeatable strength in that.

Polyamorous Sky :D!!! Poly as in the sexuality, not specifically your poly!Sky (although I hope you know how much I love that series hehe). He just has so much love to give!!! It can’t be contained!!!! Extra special bonus points if he’s in a relationship with Zelda and Groose my beloveds.

Sky feels everything very deeply. In the game we can see how expressive he is and I love when that is translated to fics. Give me a Sky that can’t always handle the depth of his emotions. Give me a Sky that laughs and cries and loves so hard that he wears himself out. Give me a Sky who will help and comfort the others far past his own limits because he can’t help but feel exactly what they’re feeling. Give me a Sky that can’t help lashing out in anger when he can’t regulate it himself. And let him be snarky. That’s not super related but it’s always fun. HE FEELS EVERYTHING SO DEEPLYYYYYYYYY

And an honorable mention for Sky being perfect for projecting disability stuff onto hehe
