I’m back with more Sky questions bc let’s be real when am I not
What’s the best way to calm Sky down when he’s feeling really anxious? Do his partners have different methods? Curious about o!sky, poly!sky, hsh!sky, my beloveds
And now we return to our regularly scheduled Wholesome Sky Asks, welcome back Ace.
poly!Sky is spoiled in that he has a small entourage to offer him comfort in times of duress.
Twilight is the biggest and best cuddler by far. He makes Sky feel small and secure when he's enveloped in Twi's arms, and the pressure is so good for physical anxiety symptoms. Sometimes he'll hum, which can be either incredibly soothing or even a little bit overstimulating depending on what Sky's dealing with.
Warriors is more about physical pleasures and grounding oneself in the body. He's very careful to determine whether touch is wanted and is super adaptable if it isn't. Because pleasant smells, like torn grass or wildflowers or an ocean breeze can also help ground you, as can sweets or a punch of alcohol, or watching a thunderstorm from a very safe distance if that's the kind of think Sky fears.
Sun is a lighter cuddler than Twilight is. She is less about holding and pressure and more about strokes--on his arms, in his hair, anywhere to get him to focus on something more pleasant. He enjoys holding her, too, and the sensation of giving someone else comfort always helps Sky forget his own hurts.
o!Sky, as we know, has several periods of distress once he is up front with the rest of the group about his past. When he's having a freakout his instinct is to flee, and approaching him is a risk. It's safer for the omegas to try first, or for Four or Wind to. They reassure mostly with words and soothing vibes, as touch tends to make things worse when he's on his way up or at his highest. Even Time doesn't touch him when he's like this, not until Sky is coming down enough to ask for it himself. He will usually talk to Sky, softly and evenly like he's telling a story, until Sky's awareness returns.
In periods of really extreme distress, o!Sky will freeze and dissociate. I am excited to get to that point in the story.
HSH!Sky doesn't show his distress to many, if anyone. Wars can tell when he's down about something and will try to cheer him up with talk therapy, but Sky doesn't like to open up about the things that bother him. On sleepless nights, though, he and Legend have had the odd encounter on the first floor. Legend doesn't ask why Sky looks like he's been crying, and Sky doesn't ask why Legend is covered in dirt. But Legend will stay up and talk with him until Sky is ready to turn in again or passes out on the couch, whichever comes first.
