#polyam thoughts

Before I really knew about/understood polyamory, i used to sit and feel kinda sad at the idea of only having one really deep/intimate relationship with someone my entire life, unless of course my partner and I split or someone dies 🙃 because I love my first partner and would never want anything bad to happen to us (like obviously life happens and I'll roll with it right) the idea of loving someone, and being limited just felt wrong and sad. So when I did learn more about polyamory, I knew that someday I might want to live/love that way. And I'm so happy and feel so lucky to be in the situation I am now. I really feel like I've learned more about myself and am more like the person I want to be, a person with a lot of love to give and receive.

I think it's really interesting how I can have a conversation with a person who deeply loves their friend and appreciates that the friends spouse is cool with that and is supportive of that relationship. To the point of knowing about a previous sexual relationship and countless shared intimate moments. But then I tell that person I'm polyamourous and they're like, so confused about how my spouse and I navigate jealously.

Like, you realize it's very similar to loving your friends loudly and with vigor, it just so happens my dear friend is also my boyfriend whom I sleep with? The communication doesn't really change that much? It's not actually that complicated.

idk if it’s because i’m nd or aro or polyam or a mixture of the three but smth i’ve noticed is that i genuinely have like, no concept of monogamy/jealousy at all.

like i have no interest in romantic relationships or even queerplatonic ones (as of right now) but I’ve been in situations with partners before where exclusivity could’ve been on the table but it just never appealed to me. i’ve had sexual partners apologise to me for mentioning their other potential sexual partners or past sexual partners and i just responded with confusion bc like, why would i care about who else you fuck as long as you’re being safe and not putting me at risk for catching anything?

when i had girlfriends, i would let them discuss their exes and be genuinely interested in their past relationships bc it was a part of them and smth to talk about, and apparently that’s weird? like, i saw a reddit post today by a girl who was upset that her boyfriend let another girl sit on his shoulders in a bikini. and i’m just like. is this normal? why would it matter?

which is odd, bc until recently i actually didn’t consider myself a very confident person. but apparently i’m a lot less insecure than i thought.

Yes, I’m polyamorous. Yes, I’m panromantic. And yes, I’m asexual. Don’t believe any of those are “valid” sexualities? Tough luck. I am who I am, and I’m proud of who I am. So please, quit gatekeeping and worry about actual problems in our society, like rape or abuse. K? Thanks.

Late Night Polyam Thoughts

When you get the chance to cuddle with all of your partners but one wants sexy times to happen, another is unamused, and you just don't care what happens because you're just happy to be together.

I think I’m at a really good place in my life. And I think polyam has a lot to do with it. Crdg and I talk about how charismatic adg is but honestly? I might be more. I’m definitely more flirty and I get out more so I have more exposure to people.

Polyam is good for me bc it gives me the freedom to be the gigantic flirt and easily emotiaonlly attached person that I am, but it also gives me the security I need to feel safe in those attachments. I am confident because I know that I am loved. I am outgoing because I have a home base. It’s really really nice.

Accepting that I'm polyamourous has been the most fulfilling thing. It's also been incredibly painful when people treated my genuine feelings as something temporary and disposable because they saw me as a stepping stone to a "real" relationship. But looking at my current partners and watching them interact and team up to drive me up a wall fills my heart to the brink.

There are times I worry that I am very near invisible. I see myself as something very forgettable. And that's one of the reasons I adore you. No matter how long we go between seeing each other or talking, the way you look at me makes me shiver. You look at me as if you have done nothing but think, imagine and hunger for me. I never doubt how memorable I am when I am with you.
