David Hockney - The Second Marriage, 1963
I'm always intrigued by non-square paintings and how they are framed. I like this David Hockney painting, but I'm not crazy about the frame. Mostly because it looks lazy and poorly done, and let's be honest - if a museum can't frame something correctly, who can?
I do like that the shape of the canvas plays with the 3D shape of the room. The wall at the right is a polygon-shaped add-on and functions as a wall, closing the couple into a square room.
