I do want to know what aspect of 911 you'd make no longer canon!
the kim arc. or at least, i'd change how they did it so much that it would functionally be a different story, lol.
the thing is, that whole bit seemed to grow out of wanting to work with devin kelly again, and maybe as an impetus to drive chris away, but it kinda fails to stick the landing on the 'eddie grappling with his grief over shannon' aspect, as well as the 'eddie's general apathy and mixed feelings about every relationship he's had since shannon' aspect. if they were going to use shannon's ghost/image in that way, i would have liked for them to dig into those feelings; if it was just a way to drive a serious wedge between eddie and chris, i would have liked them to either deal with that at some point during the resolution, or use something different as a catastrophic fuckup on eddie's part. also, tbh, if they were going to have eddie cheat and get caught by his kid and girlfriend, i wish they had gone all in on it, instead of trying to pull back and make it so eddie was just a victim of bad timing, circumstances, and kim's sudden turn into batshit crazy.
but fundamentally, i think pulling so closely from 'vertigo' was just never going to work in the context of this show. or at least, in this case i don't think it did.
