Reporting in to fulfill my duty as a tagged japanese-speaking friend. Yea, the boy is proposing. I don't even watch the series but from the screenshots I saw he's literally saying "引退まで僕のこと、お願いします/ Please look after me until I retire" which is the roundabout japanese version of "LET'S BE TOGETHER FOREVER UNTIL WE DIE OF OLD AGE HOLDING HANDS AND ARE BURIED NEXT TO EACH OTHER". He could as well be holding an engagement ring and it'd make little to no difference. Not even a word about coaching.

The point is… “and never told you“, in my case, if somebody doesn’t tell me, I won’t assume anything and those feelings won’t exists for me, as in x0 multiplier. And let’s remember, you told me about it, so you’re not part of the group I’m referring to.
