i mean i’ll just say

i’ve usually been disappointed in the diamonds’ designs, but white not only looks far better

she also has some sort of alien weirdness in her face that i was craving

her, and nephirite for that matter, are so delightfully weird

it’s crazy how they just strip pearl of her independence and choice like that

it makes her joke with bismuth and that “a pearl who belongs to no one” thing seem way more sad because she never even got that

she wasn’t defective at all. she followed orders up until she was deserted. and even now she’s fiercely loyal to her master’s progeny

rose being used as this working class revolt hero symbol really really sucks because this reveal takes away all sympathy from the character and her actions i have

her mistakes, secrets, and bad decisions are worse when you realize she was a diamond primed for strategical reasoning and tactical warfare if the occasion arose. pd was childish sure, but she had to be educated

so for her to think that (supposedly) killing herself would bring no repurcussions is....yeah

another unfortunate point of her class is the “breaking point”. rose’s argument against it is doubly awful now that we know it was more of a “protect ones own” rather than just ineffective pacifism

i feel that one of the biggest letdowns was that working class message, at least in relation to rose. i do think we’ll still get it from the off colors (and other various gems) as well as from the inevitable homeworld gems vs townies fight (which will probably be underwhelming)

i wish steven and peedee hung out more

he’s really underutilized and i can imagine him as a more grounded force in a steven, connie, peedee trio

we see a lot of trios in the show already, and i think it would be really fun to explore this dynamic. i think he has a personality different enough from connie to make it work. in many ways, i think connie would probably be the equalizer and center in this friendship. this would be a refreshing change from things mostly going steven’s way, and there would be immediate feedback and opposing opinions from steven’s usually rash decisions.

it would also be interesting to see how a fusion would work between these three, or maybe peedee wouldn’t want to fuse at all! i think that the latter point could show that even given the option, not all types of togetherness (like fusion) are comfortable for everyone

i can also think of how peedee’s seriousness and anxiety about the future could benefit from their adventures. he’s always skeptical of ronaldo’s theories but i think these excursions could make him more open minded and accepting of possible futures

that said, later on in his life, or maybe in a time skip scene in the future, i could still imagine him managing the fry stand and other businesses in beach city because going on cool and terrifying adventures in outer space doesn’t mean you have to forget and abandon everything on earth

i just feel like a lot of human characters aren’t used to their potential. it’s hard to take a message about the cool qualities about humans when we’re mostly presented as a collective. it would be more interesting to show the impacts of individual humans on the story than just nice people who aren’t really interested in what’s going on around them.

and it would be good to show more positive and friendly relationships that steven develops with kids his own age.
