Popsugar Reading Challenge: "Book You Can Finish in a Day"
Date Finished: May 23, 2016
No, this is not a particularly challenging book, unless you are just learning to read, in which case, it is understandably challenging. However, it is a book that I easily finished in a day. I love reading Shel Silverstein. He had so much whimsy. Whenever I read his poems, I feel that anything is possible. He has this way about his words that transports anyone back to their childhood.
My favorite poems are "I must remember", "Listen to the Mustn'ts", "Early Bird", "Smart", "Two Boxes", "Invention", "Sick", "Who", "Wild Boar", "No Difference", "The Planet of Mars", "Me Stew", "Paul Bunyan", "The Bagpipe Who Didn't Say No", and "Band-Aids".
"Listen to the MUSTN'TS, child, Listen to the DON'TS Listen to the SHOULDN'TS The IMPOSSIBLES, the WON'TS Listen to the NEVER HAVES Then listen close to me -- Anything can happen, child, ANYTHING can be."
- Listen to the MUSTN'TS, Shel Silverstein
"I have a Band-Aid on my finger One on my knee, and one on my nose One on my heel, and two on my shoulder, Three on my elbow, and nine on my toes. Two on my wrist, and one on my ankle, One on my chin, and one on my thigh, Four on my belly, amd five on my bottom, One on my forehead, and one on my eye. One on my neck, and in case I might need 'em I have a full box of thirty-five more. But oh! I do think it's sort of a pity I don't have a cut or a sore!"
- Band-Aids, Shel Silverstein
