"I want you all to know," says the Glee and A Very Potter Musical star, "that I grew up going to conventions."
Darren Criss reveals how he went from a convention-going fan to a celebrity (who still goes to conventions)

So many convention attendees dream of being on the other side of the panel, of crossing the barrier between fan lining up and who fans line up for. Recently, Glee star Darren Criss came to Chicago's C2E2 '24 with a message for those dreamers - that the barrier was crossable, and that he was living proof.
Speaking with Popverse seniorv ideo producer Veronica Valencia, Criss began by (lovingly) calling out other celebrities. "I'll have you know," Criss said, "A lot of people who come up here to do these things - especially actors, who I love - usually the first time they ever go to a convention is when they're on this side."
"I want you all to know," he said to massive applause, "that I grew up going to conventions."
"You name it," Criss continued, "Star Wars conventions, comic conventions - if it was in the Bay Area, I went to it at some point. So I very much appreciate and see and know the excitement of of a room like this. And it's my genuine pleasure to be here as a result."
He's voiced both: Now Darren Criss speaks to the dynamic between Superman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
How Superman and TMNT's Raphael would get along, according to Darren Criss
He may be best known for his role as Blaine Anderson on Glee from 2010 to 2015, but since, Darren Criss has had plenty of crossover with comics and superhero universes. Criss played a memorable role as the Music Meister in CW's Supergirl and The Flash show-stopper musical crossover, and has also lent his voice-acting talents to a healthy array of animation, including DC animated movies.
Recent highlights include Criss voicing Superman and Raphael from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. During the C2E2 2024 spotlight panel on Criss's career, a fan asked questions about how Criss felt Clark and Raphael would get along and interact. When told he was surprised to hear Criss would voice the rough and tumble turtle, Criss replied "Yeah, me too, man!"
The Glee and StarKid star had a lot to say about how certain things become popular on the internet
Would A Very Potter Musical work today? We asked Darren Criss
If you were an internet kid circa 2009, you are probably familiar with A Very Potter Musical. The student-made musical parody, which came out at the height of Pottermania, became an early viral hit and rocketed star Darren Criss to fame.
So when Popverse video producer Veronica Valencia (and musical theater nerd) got to chat with Criss at C2E2 '24, she asked if the same magic (heh) could be captured again.
