apparently, i get to introduce my friends to the concept of positioning pillows so! time to make a post about them. i've been using positioning pillows of various types for the last year, and they've been amazing for comfort/safety
positioning pillows are sturdy foam pillow-blocks that are meant to help keep the body in a particular position. they're helpful for things like keeping feet above heart (good for people whose feet tend to swell and people with low blood pressure such as POTS havers), preventing pressure sores in people who cannot adjust their position, preventing people with unstable posture from falling out of position, elevating the head/upper body (i need this to breathe--i cannot safely lie flat on my back. elevation like this is also really good for acid reflux), keeping joints from slipping out of place, and just generally improving comfort.
they're cheaper than an adjustable bed (my current setup cost around 60$ total, an adjustable bed can go into the ten-thousands), and there are different types you can get that are adjusted to people who sleep on their backs and side sleepers. they've honestly been a gamechanger for me, and if you currently use regular pillows to keep yourself comfortable in bed or a sofa or a wheelchair, i recommend googling positioning pillow types to see if you can find shapes that can accommodate your needs.
