What have I done to myself LOL. But I actually don’t want to incorporate this into the Wing!AU, as Jesse is basically Gabe’s best friend/comrade/whatever there. And I imagine Gabe would be pretty clear on his intentions about Jack, as in the enter base know BUT Jack. McCree would be far too respectful of his friend to cut in like that. So here is something in the normal verse lolol
McCree has had this strange obsession with the Strike-Commander the moment he sees the golden boy. He hounds Jack Morrison’s every step and drinks in every word the Commander says as if it was fine whiskey. Jack, bless his heart, is too pure of a soul to care or notice, most likely the latter, and everyone else knows he follows Blackwatch Commander like a lost puppy. Hell, Gabriel knows Jack only has eyes for him and no spare time for anything else, but it doesn’t stop him from seething.
Honestly, it could have been easy. Gabriel could have kicked McCree off the team and base with just a stroke of his pen. Jack wouldn’t have questioned him, utterly confident in his lover’s decisions even though they can come to disagreements at times. However, as petty as Gabriel can be, McCree is still a fine recruit and Gabriel did fight tooth and nail for this little shit to have him on the team.
Apparently, Jack should have questioned his decisions more often.
Sleazy, filthy Deadlock snot-nosed brat...
But, even so, Gabriel has to admit, watching Jack treating McCree like the little kid he is, it is terribly amusing. His sunshine is ever so supportive, yet completely oblivious to McCree’s attempts, merely thinking the kid enjoys joking around. Plus, having a living, breathing human to beat the shit out of every day is fun. Helps with his digestions. And it isn’t just Gabriel who seems to draw entertainment from the matter. Ana is a bit subtler in her watching, but her quiet, dainty little snorts whenever McCree has his little heart broken in a million pieces are rather obvious.
“This eerily reminds me of you.” She tells Gabriel one time, who rolls his eyes rather dramatically, “Bull-headed and too stubborn to be deterred by Jack’s legendary obliviousness.”
“Yeah, but that kid ain’t me.”
“Nobody else is you.” Ana wrinkles her nose, sizing him up, though there is fondness in her voice, “Besides, you make Jack happy, can’t ask for more than that.”
Gabriel’s mouth twitches, “You sound like his mom.”
She easily flicks her teaspoon at his forehead, hitting right between his eyes without even looking, “When’s the wedding, by the way? I know you two aren’t going to make it publicly, but I still want to see Fareeha be the cutest little flower girl.”
Snorting, though he can’t hide his grin now, keenly feeling simple metal band pressing against his skin under the thick glove, “Soon.” He promises her, “Jack wanna coordinate everyone’s schedule. Pullin’ some strings here and there.”
Ana seems content with that answer, humming over her cup of tea.
And Jack, his sweet, innocent Jack, seems rather curious as to why Gabriel has been so keen on leaving so many love bites on him recently. Not that he cares, or anybody else at that matter. But McCree is driven off the wall, fuming like the child he is, and doubles his efforts. In vain.
Gabriel, even though is still irked, gleefully awaits the moment when their wedding is announced. McCree’s salty tears and broken heart would be a perfect side dish for his impending happiness.
