Cosplay
I want to start doing cosplay. There is a lot of reasoning going on inside my inner monologue about why I want to do cosplay. because it’s an excuse to make things, because I might learn to make stuff that isn’t cosplay that I could wear out and about, because I need a hobby, because it always looked fun, because when the apocalypse comes the ‘made it myself’ cosplayer types will be the ones making everyone's clothes, and I should probably plan for the future. Whatever my inner monologue says the most important reason is that I want to, so I will.
I want to make a cosplay of the Stealth set from Breath of the Wild, because whenever I look at this set in-game it looks like it could be comfy. Like nice pair of pajamas. There is a lot of cosplay out there that looks like it would be terrible to wear, so I’m choosing this because it looks like it could be comfortable.
Might be a case of starting to big/complicated or something, but if I’m going to get into cosplay I want to make it myself and it’s got to be something I’d want to wear. Both, because learning how to make stuff is very attractive to me, but also I am far more likely to wear it out where someone could see. Hand me a random monkey suit to wear, I’m not likely to enjoy it that much or even be willing, but if it’s MY monkey suit, well I’m gonna want to show it off, at least once. I made it!
The plan
Well first off is to break the cosplay into categories for different methods of construction, or purchase in the more extreme cases. The three obvious bits will be the Armor, The Suit, and the Belts, Slightly less obvious are the Shoes, those aren’t frog toed socks those are frog toed shoes, with horse riding heels. There are also the Wrappings, the scarf and the arm wraps being the whole of that category. Last and not least is a Wig. And maybe a pair of Gloves if only cause shoes are also separate.
Armor: How do I even start.
Belts: will likely buy and modify.
Gloves?:Unlike with shoes there really isn't a practical reason to have these separate other than to reduce the problems potential mismatch of size differences in parts of the cosplay.
Shoes: Would be pretty cool to Cobble. Also having the shoes be separate might make it easier to wear.
Suit: Sewing and Tailoring
Wig: For reasons I may or may not explain I'm thinking Yarn
Wrappings: Yes it's just white cloth. Doesn't stop me imagining them doubling as acrobatic ribbons.
