Malva's tone switched from a fake playfulness to grim disappointment.

"If only I could end your miserable life for real. Especially now that you've found where I'm hiding after I got booted from the League - all because somebody had to selfishly protect their commoner ass and their friends instead of taking one for the team! Your sacrifice would have created such a beautiful, peaceful new world. Wouldn't you have loved that?"

“Ah, Malva!” The overjoyed tone in his voice is only matched by the clap of hands as he walked towards her, beaming as he took her hand to shake it. “I must say, your segment within the news was marvelous this morning! I'm very impressed with the line-up~” Was he being overly-praising? Perhaps. But it was better to be thankful than it was to be ungrateful, he found.

“Oh, Lysandre, a pleasure to see you here!”

In truth, Malva wasn’t surprised. In her world, Lysandre owned the company her newscast came from - of course, both came crashing down with the Geosenge Base, hence why she’s here.

Best keep things neutral until I find out what, if any, connections to the media this Lysandre has.

“I’m not much of a gamer myself, but it was fun to demonstrate the full capabilities of the Holo Caster for such purposes. It could make you quite a profit. From what I’ve seen, get them hooked and they’ll be loyal fanboys that’d buy a Magikarp if it has the Lysandre Labs name on it.”

"No, I got it -- it's just -- you hope and pray, but you never really think it's gonna happen."

“Tell me about it...” Malva muttered, her gaze going back and forth between her hands, Shauna, and the pocket that held her knife, just in case some anti-Flare hostility got the best of the energetic young girl.

“I’m sure you know about what all’s happened. Flare being outed. The destruction of Geosenge. Ly- Mr. Lysandre’s death. The shuttering of Holo Media and many other Lysandre Labs subsidiaries. My removal from the Elite Four.”

Shauna had every right to be angry. Depending on Lysandre and Serena’s whims, their plan would have either gotten the girl killed outright, or mind controlled into a happy but hollowed shell of her former self, as to keep her from resenting Serena and the rest of her royal family for their cold, bloody deeds.

But Malva still had a glimmer of hope for Shauna’s kindness, even if there were no other hope left for her.

“But have you thought about the cruel, vicious world that will persist because the slate never was wiped clean? A world in which our Serena has to spend the rest of her childhood as a fugitive? She didn’t say goodbye to you, either, didn’t she? My cherie... my cub. Not even she’s left. I wish I knew where she was. I never thought I’d lose everything. Even her.”
