When my @cndcanada skittles mani by lovely @nailsfromnars was fresh.... It was my first adventure in stage-III COVID times, and the amazing team @tipsnailbar made me feel safe. The salon door is locked so there is no risk of a willy-nilly crowd. The Tips crew is masked and shielded and seating is precisely socially distant. Guests get a temperature check, then escorted back to a hand-washing station with a pause on the way to put belongings into a bin by their seats. Stations and surfaces et al are cleaned after every client and thoroughly again halfway through the day. . “We wipe down anything our guests or team members come into contact with, and make sure every tool we use has been disinfected, dried and packed away,” says Tips founder @leeannecolley of the salon’s new protocols. “All garbage cans are emptied, washrooms fully cleaned, and all towels go into the wash and the machine is started as the morning shift heads out at 2:20 pm. When the afternoon shift starts at 2:30, it’s like a brand new day without any sign a team was already there,” she explains. “The only thing we don’t do between shifts is re-wash the floor and the stairs; the first shift does that at 8:30 am when they come in.” . That’s so much more daily work for the whole Tips family, but Tips regulars love them for it. And Leeanne notes it actually makes end-of-day closing easier, so there’s that. . Yes, that first post-lockdown visit was a bit strange.
