Here’s a curious oddity. Pot Black Timeframe, a one-series wonder from 1992.
The basic idea of Pot Black was simple. One frame of snooker, winner progresses in the tournament, four wins to claim the title. It encouraged cautious safety play, but when a frame ended in ten minutes they had an awful lot of show to fill.
Time Frame played to a fixed time limit. We were going to get 20 minutes of snooker, and the highest score wins. Go over your time and you’re fined at a reasonable rate.
Didn’t catch on as a snooker show - the next big idea was Tenball, the next successful idea was Big Break. But more of those some other time...
Dressed for the occasion.
