Pot7A Day 6: Inten

Species: Slont.  See Fosten.

Inten: Recently released from holding in a penal facility for participating in underground fight circles on a slave ship where betting among the crew was not allowed.  Has a keen interest in ink and marks his arms with various tattoo substances from the planets he has visited.  Wry and grim.

Occupation: Welder and metal smith.  Born off planet and raised in various lowbrow space ports.

Pot7A Day 5: Tadril

Species:Thiller. Medium-sized, six-limbed bipedal people.  Very intelligent with a mild, comfortable home world.  Each arm ends in a tapered nub. Thillers pair for life at a very young age and work as partners to manipulate objects, raise buildings, etc to compensate for lack of hands.

Diet: Vegetarian.  Selective breeding has produced delicate, delectable fruits, vegetables, and grasses.  Domestic animals provide milk and eggs.

Temperament: Epicurean and finicky.  Thillers are estimated by some to hold an average intelligence on levels similar to Rugens or Kokoparvests, but are greatly inhibited by their own bodies' abilities to invent.  They are very co-dependant, feeling that partnership and help is every person's right, and loyal to their partners.  Thillers have a reputation for being small and loud and judgmental towards other advanced peoples for not fixing everyone's problems yet.

Planet: Sariays.  Mild, temperate climates and beaches are prominent.  Flora and Fauna are generally docile.  Technology has been employed to urbanize and develop the planet into a wholly ideal home world.  Agriculture, business, and residential districts are divided to keep things orderly.

Deity: They are Always Together (White Goddess and Offwhite Goddess). Two female fertility gods, very tall and elegant, one slightly taller than the other, always seen standing close enough to be touching.  Many churches are constructed around the cities towards worship and appreciation of them.  Religion emphasizes selflessness, servitude, gentleness and goodness.  Alternate god affiliation is heavily frowned upon. They are Always Together are often accredited actions other species might attribute to Sustainer.

Assimilation: Excellent.  Sariays produces many competitively intelligent, well-educated citizens towards science or educational fields.  Export of crops and silks balances an import of fine, modern hand-built technological labor saving devices.  Relationships with Thelvets are notably common and good.

Space Program: Humbler than they would like, due to the continued issue of not having hands to build things with.  Engineers and scientists are able to develop technologies but most serious projects require collaborations with other races.

Tadril: Fussy about peace and rules.  Very well brought up and mannered, an upstanding citizen and married to the love of his life.  Low-bred folk who deviate from what is socially acceptable frustrate him to no end.

Occupation: Catalogs and sells fine porcelain in a satellite branch of a larger firm that imports it from various sources. 

Social: Closely bonded to his mate.  Keeps in contact with those around him, offering help or asking it when needed.

Pot7A Day 4: Homba

Species:Arthockle.  Heavy, sturdy, slow-moving people.  Hide toughens over limbs, back and head to the point of being leather armor.  Four limbs, six very dextrous claws on each hand and larger, rounded claws on feet.  Flat, crushing teeth.

Diet: Fresh hide or bone, including hair; berries, mushrooms and similar fungi, small amphibians, grains.

Temperament: Stoic.  Reluctant to show mood or allow it to be changed.  difficult to stir to one cause or another.  Most keep opinions, beliefs, and considerations to themselves, and act on things that have been decided upon. 

Planet: Hrompitchu.  A place of great fertile potential, rich in resources and nutrients that are usually buried by the elements shortly after being exposed by them. Seasons are erratic and not dependable.  Most animal and plant life have the ability to hibernate.

Deity: It Wheezes Crystals of Ice.  A long-bodies, blunt faced entity with features similar to the Arthockles.  Changes size and is most commonly visible as a ring erratically circling the planet, coughing up shards of ice that form narrow rings. Faverotisim is gaining popularity.

Assimilation: Good.  Massive planetary terrascapers have been imported to make sections of Heff more tolerable, evidently to no protest of the gods.  Slonts make willing and ambitious laborers so long as they’re given their space and are readily hired into off-planet positions. Seldom involves itself directly in the affairs of its people.

Space Program: Many races are attracted to the goods that can be exported from the planet, but few have the biology to withstand its harsh and unpredictable conditions.  A high demand has evolved for Hrompitchuan top-grade materials, which are collected from farms, mines etc. commissioned by other races but employing Arthockles almost exclusively.  Production rates are erratic as all employees drop everything and hibernate when the weather dictates, good business be damned, and so demand and prices are high.

Homba: It's difficult to tell exactly what sort of person Homa is because he is as withdrawn and quiet as all his kind.  Planet life has ingrained the need to stay practical in his mind and he is always putting survival at the forefront of his activities.  Makes decisions and acts on them without discussion, labors without complaint.

Occupation: Left Hrompitchu to work on ships for several years.  Maintains navigational communication equipment, fixing things before they break and making sure all ships get where they're going safely and on time.

Pot7A Day 3: Persi

Species:Muel.  Six limbs, each with a similar skeletal composition.  Short tails and four webbed feet.  Narrow black eyes, heat-sensors along muzzle.  Thick ears.  Families produce offspring throughout their lives. Only a small percentage of these offspring are intelligent enough to be considered sentient people.

Diet: Musky grain crops, bitter fruits, and and certain "clean" insects.  Scarcity of protein is remedied through non-sentient cannibalism. 

Temperament: Among peers they can be quick to quarrel and work out desputes.  Towards all outsiders they are courteous and polite whenever possible.  Social and team-oriented. Eager to prove cannibalism doesn't make them savages.

Planet: Felluck.  Swamplands conquered into floating reed islands where dry crops are grown and huts are built.  Channels and ferries connect establishments.  Plant density is high; large terrestrial animal life is scarce.   

Deity: He Harvests.  Similar in looks to a Muel but much larger and with two extra legs and two extra arms; one of which is a stump, giving him the secondary title of The Amputee God.  Sees to fertility and production of energy sources over the planet and reaps worship in the form of effort and labor from his people.  Sometimes appears at harvest rituals, or can be found in dark chasms.

Assimilation: Excellent.  Agreeable temperament and strong family bonds keep them in contact with the home planet while opening many possibilities for employment.  Imported foods have begged the question of whether cannibalism remains ethical.  Nonsentient Muelmeat is an expensive delicacy and is exported in quantity, with prices rising as ethics debates threaten to make this illegal or, at least, unfashionable.

Space Program: Nuetral.  Muels are becoming a common sight throughout assimilated planets and space ports, but Felluck yields few natural resources that would facilitate developing their own space programs.

Persi: A very polite, level-headed young adult.  Believes in group cohesion and synergy, fixing problems, and taking care of one another.  Has an uncertain faith in his own abilities. 

Occupation: General practice doctor.  Well educated on Muel biology and medicine, as well as those that translate to most other species.  Worked in a large city on Felluck and took occasional trips to other planets or ports for his education.

Pot7A Day 2: Fosten

Species:Slont. Tall, dense-boned people with long forelimbs and constantly growing, flakey claws.  Claws are dextrous enough but second set of flimsy arms is used to manipulate delicate objects.  Heads are bullet-shaped with bristly whiskers.  Walks upright at all times, hide is very tough and itches as it sheds.

Diet: Omnivorous, favoring aquatic plants and animals.

Temperament: Aggressive.  Notoriously short fused and easily offended.  Quick rate of healing and sturdy bodies allow them to be violent.

Planet: Heff.  Appears marbled maroon and black from space due to ancient lava flows.  Very unstable and always changing.  Pickings are tough and finding a good place to live is something worth fighting for.

Deity: She Creeps; She Sputters.  She Creeps watches what the Slonts get up to and judges their lives, manipulating live lava flows into the territory of ones who she doesn't like.  She Sputters is difficult to understand and harder to appease, keeping the planet's core angry and volitile.  Massive game is hunted exclusively for the gods and great chunks are thrown into lava flows or stewed in boiling lakes.  Slonts are eager to please them and try to anticipate ways to do it.

Assimilation: Good.  Massive planetary terrascapers have been imported to make sections of Heff more tolerable, evidently to no protest of the gods.  Slonts make willing and ambitious laborers so long as they're given their space and are readily hired into off-planet positions. 

Space Program: Amateur.  Slonts most often develop missions to seek volcanic planets and moons as pilgrimages or crusades.  Are often paranoid or suspicious of outsiders on such occasions.

Fosten: Not especially bright and aware of this, contented to follow someone else's confidence.  Anticipates good and bad and strives to make the right choices in advance, in or out of his gods' sight. Easily frustrated but keeps violence to a minimal, god-loving brute that he is.

Occupation: Crude mechanic on a general transport barge.  Generally works after hours if carrying passengers, as they tend to irritate him.  Does most of the manual heavy lifting.  Has a rudimentary knowledge of mechanics, enough to know which piece goes where.

Social: Believes in people who get things done. Has a network of co-workers and employers who appreciate his work.  Keeps in touch with younger sisters on Heff.

Parable of the Seven Aliens Week

This coming week will be devoted to fleshing out the characters of my webcomic.  Each day will focus on one of them and will develop aesthetic, species name, traditions, temperament, personality, planet, deity, history and such.
