On 9/16, thirty mascots from Saitama Prefecture got together in Kumagaya Sports Culture Park (in Kumagaya, Saitama) to celebrate the prefecture, outside a football stadium where Saitama’s FC Omiya Ardija were playing Gamba Osaka. Ardija means squirrel in Spanish, and the team’s squirrel mascots Ardi (アルディ) and Miya (ミーヤ) were present, as were Hanipon (はにぽん), Fukka-chan（ふっかちゃん), and Potekuma (ポテくまくん).

Potekuma-kun (ポテくまくん, from Chichibu, Saitama) has set his Yuru-Chara Grand Prix goal for this year: To reach 19th place. It may seem a bit arbitrary, but it is his entry number this year.

He recently visited prefectural friends and former Grand Prix medallists Hanipon and Fukkachan for guidance.

Potekuma-kun placed 76th last year, and 132nd in 2015. He is fairly well known, so I think 19th (or better) should be achievable if he gets enough support.

Public voting for the Yuru-Chara Grand Prix starts on the 1st August. Current entries are listed here.

Potekuma-kun (ポテくまくん, from Chichibu, Saitama) buys a CD at Yufu Terashima’s stall, at the Yuru-Chara Grand Prix 2016 in Matsuyama, Ehime (2016.11.5~6). 

Yuffy made a special edition of her latest album with an alternate yuru-chara themed cover (link), which was available at the event.

Potekuma-kun placed 76th in the Grand Prix this year.
