One thing is power level wank but a character whose set of abilities, attacks or weapons is diverse is more appealing. Specially with the idea of a character going through different worlds and situations and having different ways to adapt or face challenges, even if they're still vulnerable to some degree. I feel people should find Batman cool because he has a great set of tools and vehicles and not because of the amount of times he beat up other superheroes. Even Doom has people making memes about Doomguy's power level, but there's something more appealing on seeing the weapons they add in an new Doom game and imagining Doomguy switching through different tools for whatever scenario he's in. Videogames are specifically relevant to this because different tools in general help to make a game feel dynamic vs "here's infinte ammo/health and a one hit kill attack". Specially with crossovers, since what can make your character crossover friendly is a diverse set of tools, not some bullshit lore about how strong they are.
