‪Someone please put me in contact with the ‬writers of Orange is the New Black. I have an idea for a show that is like OITNB, but, instead of prison, a group home for special needs people. I want people to know what living in a group home, does to you mentally, especially as a child, like the ones I work with. And I want people to know what it does to the people who work there. And I want to draw attention to the syndrome I work with, Prader-Willi. Yes, there would be humor, but there would also be a lot of drama.

Prayer Willi Awareness: Rebecca’s pregnancy was as perfect as perfect can be. Everything was great until Rose could not suck on a bottle. Rose was rushed to Women & Infants Hospital where they did countless tests. Rose was poked some many times because the IVs kept coming out. They even put an IV in her head. But the nurses and staff treated us like family and told us everything would be ok. What is Prader-Willi syndrome? PWS is a complex genetic disorder affecting appetite, growth, metabolism, cognitive function and behavior. It is typically characterized by low muscle tone, short stature (when not treated with growth hormone), incomplete sexual development, cognitive disabilities, behavioral problems, and the hallmark characteristics – chronic feelings of insatiable hunger and a slowed metabolism that can lead to excessive eating and life-threatening obesity. Those who have PWS need intervention and strict external controls, sometimes including padlocking access to food, to maintain normal weight and to help save their lives. We give Rose a nightly shot of Growth Hormones.
