Cleaning with Intention #4

Today I ran across a folk practice in Lancashire that involved curtain cleaning as a form of protection of the home.

I had the blinds on the to do list for the pre-spring cleaning ritual , but hadn’t yet tackled them, so was excited to adapt the curtain cleaning to my blinds.

I cleaned the windows and the blinds first with my new favorite lemon cleaner and then used a tisane based on Diary of a Folk Witch’s curtain rinse (with a few drops of Jordan water as my holy water) while reciting her lovely little charm.

I cleaned today wearing my husband’s grandmother’s vintage, hand sewn smock apron that I found while cleaning out closets last week.

Draft Dumping 2k19!

It is insanely out of control peeps! STILL! (and that gif could not be more accurate as to how I feel about it. Sorry if it makes you dizzy!) I’m seeing your tags, and I hope anyone tagging me doesn’t think I’m ignoring them, I really do appreciate each one, I just need to get caught up!

Due to my lack of time to be as active as I once was in Tumblr, it’s built up tremendously so I don’t lose what I’ve been tagged in in my notifications.

So over the course of the next few months, depending on how much I can queue each day until its cleared, you’ll see some old, some new (maybe), and hopefully fun things! It would be super lovely to go from oldest to newest.. but Tumblr would probably break more of our shit if they did this.. and I’m pretty sure we’re over that!

Cleaning with Intention #3

Before and After

I found my Sarna bell collection in a box under a bed where it had probably been for close to a decade. Time to do some cleansing before I use them in any rituals!

So today’s homemade cleaner is for brass.

Simply combine 1 tsp of lemon juice and 1 tsp of baking powder to make a paste. It will fizz up at first but soon settles.

Use a rag to run it into the brass and then wipe it off and voilà!

Compare polished and unpolished
