I finished Muse of Nightmares. I'm currently still way deep in my feelings, so what follows may not be super eloquent.
First of all, I feel vindicated. I was right. It's a shared universe (universes??). The ending has me So Excited for what Laini Taylor has planned for future books. If I could summarise with a gif:
Second of all, this is Sarai's story and I love Sarai......but *whispers* I like Lazlo more *runs away*.
I can't help it. I just do. (See previous post about my feelings for my precious pea). I miss seeing things from Lazlo's perspective and I know this is Sarai's story, but I didn't think I was going to feel the shift in perspective as much as I do. It's not a reflection of the quality of the story, the story is great, I just bonded a lot with Lazlo by the end of Strange the Dreamer and I didn't realize how much until now.
Thirdly.....holy hell, if you've never read anything by Laini Taylor, now is a good time to start. I would recommend starting with the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and continuing right through to Muse of Nightmares. The DoSaB trilogy and Strange the Dreamer duology can be read independently of one another BUT it's so much more satisfying to start with DoSaB.
