so i always assumed lily was the other prefect do you think she was closer friends with remus even before she warmed to the other boys

i also think lily was the other prefect with remus, and i definitely think she was closer to him before the others. imo they had a lot in common in terms of background and interests. they’re both outcasts in their own way (muggle born and werewolf) and never expected to go to hogwarts, only learning about the wizarding world from the fringe of it. they both love doctor who and reading and fleetwood mac and finally being invited somewhere they can belong. 

however, i think their relationship was complicated because of remus’ secret and also his complicity in the marauders’ actions before they all grew the f up. lily most likely knew about the werewolf thing quite early on and, out of respect, never told him but this means to him, she is someone else who might leave the second his secret gets out. so... they were friends but i don’t think they would have been best mates or anything, especially not before they were prefects together.

This isn't exactly a headcanon but... James and Lily never got to watch Return of the Jedi. They never got to see the conclusion of the saga or find out what happened to Han solo or Luke or leia or the rebellion. They don't know they wom

lily is an avid fan and Remus kind of goes along with it because it’s another thing they share outside school and he loves sharing. plus he likes the PowerPoint scene changes. they’re already planning on going to see it, arranging a date as soon as its release is announced. lily buys a little light saber for Harry but then Sirius charms it and it becomes a lil too dangerous for a one year old to be playing with. then, two years before it’s released, James tells lily to take Harry and go and kind of ruins that plan. Remus thinks about going but he can’t, it’s too painful without her besides him, whispering dry comments and leaning forwards during the romantic scenes and making light saber sounds she doesn’t even realise she’s making during the fights. so he doesn’t go and in the end he ends up hearing about what happened in a muggle pub whilst he’s nursing a beer having just found out his best friends were murdered by his brother. he raises a glass to the winners and wishes it could have been the same for them.
