"Is it so unbelievable I'd want to contact my son?" The retort sounded overly bitter, Lex took a calming breath, his tone shifting.

"I want you to come home, Kon. I-- there are things we need to discuss." His tone remained even but there was certainly an anxiety to his tone. How was he to express to his boy who had just come back from the dead that things would be changing?

That he'd have a company to look after?

Kon was his only living heir. His legacy. Without Brainiac-- without that hope-- he wouldn't be able to continue on. Turns out, carrying Kryptonite wherever you go led to tumors. His brief but beautiful bond with Braniac had put him into remission for a while.
