Enterprises TV on Don’t Make Me Sick!
If you listen well, you just may hear the sneezing, coughing and nose blowing of co-workers fighting a cold or the flu. Enterprises TV offers some tips on how to prevent getting sick when it seems like everybody else is not well.
Guess what? Almost 90 percent of 1,000 adults surveyed believe and-washing is the best way to prevent getting the flu, which it is not. The flu vaccine is the one sure-fire way to prevent getting the flu and it does give you the flu.
Forty-two percent of those surveyed didn’t know that there are prescription antiviral medications available to treat the flu.
Now let’s take a look at how to really prevent getting sick at work.
Get the flu vaccine. This is the one way to prevent getting the flu.
Feeling ill? Stay home from work. Call in sick. If possible, offer to work from home.
If you are at work, please, sneeze or cough into a tissue, paper towel or toilet paper. If there is none handy, sneeze or cough into your elbow. The co-workers do not care to hear how majestically you sneeze and certainly do not want your germs floating over the cubicle walls.
Know the flu’s symptoms: fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, achiness, fatigue or headaches – or a combination of all of them.
Wash your hands thoroughly with water and soap. Sing the Happy Birthday song twice to be sure you wash them long enough.
Share a desk? Wipe all hard surfaces, including the phone, with an antibacterial wipe or a little rubbing alcohol on a paper towel before using them.
Enterprises TV suggests visiting the family doctor is you think the flu is coming on. Don’t try over the counter medications because they don’t work as well as a prescription antiviral. Be kind and caring at work with co-workers who are not well. Buy them a box of tissues and ask them if they have seen a doctor. Be well and stay well.
