“I know that they told us we weren’t discovering these documents, but that’s what it felt like. We’re not the first people to see these, but...everything is so new to you, that you feel like you’re the one discovering the records—it’s a pretty special feeling.” – Dan Falcon, Primarily Teaching
Primarily Teaching is our summer workshop for educators on using historical documents in the classroom. This summer, Dan and other nationwide participants researched and digitized more than 240 documents that were previously not available online.
Document “discovered” by Dan: Certificate from the Imperial Government of China Certifying that Mah Chung was Permitted to Return To and Remain Within the United States under Section 6 of the Chinese Exclusion Act, 9/27/1892; from the Records of the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
