It’s occurred to me many people don’t know who the characters in red shoes and the seven dwarfs are based on in fairytales.

Let’s start with the obvious:

Snow White is Snow White from Snow White and the 7 dwarfs

Regina is the evil queen from Snow White and the 7 dwarfs

King white is king white from Snow White and the 7 dwarfs

Now to the f7:

Merlin is based on Merlin from Arthurian legends

Arthur is based on King Arthur from Arthurian legends

Jack is based off Jack from Jack and the beanstalk

Hans is Hansel from Hansel and Gretel

Pino, Noki, and Kio are Pinocchio from Pinocchio (this one really killed me because I couldn’t get it, I got the others but this one I had to look up lol).

I couldn’t find if prince average is based on anyone, I think he’s just the average prince in fairytale stories, no extraordinary characteristics, no first name, just nothing outside of his overall unappealing personality and vainness.

Edit/ @astrolionking reblogged and pointed out Prince Average is based on the huntsman whose ordered by the evil queen to kill/capture snow/red.

Princess Alice of Regular Kingdom

King Average's daughter is one of Kestral's best friends. Alice herself is actually the same Alice who fell down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. I knew immediately that I wanted one of Kestral's best friends to be Alice from Alice in Wonderland but I couldn't figure out what to do about her parentage at first.

Originally, I wanted Alice to be Arthur and Guinevere's daughter, but I realized she doesn't really look like them. Then, I remembered Prince Average and, voila, a solution was born. King Average and his currently nameless wife adore each other to Morticia and Gomez levels. Unlike Morticia and Gomez, however, they are terrible parents to their daughter to the point of forgetting she exists unless they need something from her.

Case in point, Alice ran away from home when she was 7 and was gone for three weeks before anyone noticed. Even then, it was Queen Guinevere who noticed she was missing(this was her first trip to Wonderland). In the end, Alice was found by the F7 wandering around Camelot (which was where the rabbit hole dropped her off when she escaped). For all intents and purposes, Alice is more Arthur and Guinevere's daughter than she is her birth parents.

Nobody outside of Regular Kingdom knew she existed, and even in her own kingdom nobody knew if she was real. For many this was the first they'd heard of her.

Due to the Werewolf curse on her family line Queen Guinevere can't have children. Over the centuries, the curse whittled down how many children the mothers of her family could have until Guinevere, who couldn't have kids at all. The curse is centuries old, and no one knows the conditions of the curse but everyone believes it is meant to kill off her family slowly. While her curse was lifted when she married Arthur (a surprise to them both) the damage was done.

Of course, then the King & Queen of Regular Kingdom showed themselves to be dogshit parents so Guinevere and Arthur decided it was Free Real Estate™️.
