Whumptober Day 4: "You in there?"

It’s not right. Something’s not right.

He’s tied up, or rather tied down, his back against something hard. But it isn’t the ropes that are stopping him from moving. There isn’t anything stopping his head from turning. His head won’t turn.

He’s present, he’s awake. His body isn’t doing what he tells it to do.

Something moves into his line of vision. Someone. Xiao Yu.

He’d been so excited, when his half-brother had revealed their connection. Pleased that he’d travelled so far just so they could finally meet. Desperate for some information about his mother, their mother.

He should have known it was too good to be true, his unknown brother approaching him, looking to form an alliance, offering the one thing he really wanted. He should have known to keep his guard up, to not show any weakness in front of him. He should have known better.

Xiao Yu, Prince Chi, leans over him, deranged grin on his face. “You in there, didi?” he sneers.

An assortment of witty comebacks fall to the tip of his tongue, as they always do, but Wu Xin doesn’t reply because he cannot. He can’t open his mouth, he can’t move. He doesn’t know what his half-brother has done to him and he can’t ask.

Xiao Yu walks a little further, out of Wu Xin’s narrow line of vision. That’s better. At least he doesn’t have to look at him, his self-righteous smirk and his ambitious eyes.

“Look at me.” And Wu Xin’s head swivels, turning to face Xiao Yu without any trouble. Without Wu Xin wanting to. Without Wu Xin trying to.

Xiao Yu’s grin grows broader. “Perfect.”
