Soft. (Erik Killmonger Imagine)
Woah, it’s been a hot minute since the last time I’ve posted... Will you still believe that it’s writer’s block that’s keeping me from writing on here?
Okay, I know that this Erik will never ever make an appearance in Black Panter. But like a girl can dream right?
In this, Erik’s alive and makes amends with T’Challa... Okay? I will not accept the fact that he died. Like this is an AU sorta. I’m sorry it’s short, it’s just a lil story. Nothing too major.
It’s also super fluffy and I’ve never read an Erik Killmonger imagine that was fluffy because you know that’s just who he is but like let’s just pretend.
It was something about you. The way you carried yourself. The way you spoke only to select people. The way you worked alongside Shuri or Stark. The way you were so invested the blueprints surrounding you. You just captivated him.
And let’s just say he wasn’t used to this.
Erik hasn’t even said a whole sentence to you and yet you still had him wrapped around your finger. If you said froggy, he would most definitely hop.
“Maybe you should just talk to her.” Shuri had suggested after catching him staring at you as you walked past. “She’s not that intimidating.”
Erik shook his head. “I ain’t gonna talk to her. Not interested.” She gave her cousin a look before rolling her eyes to catch up to her. “Girl’s like a mouse.” He huffed, rolling his eyes and walking the other way.
He wasn’t used to the pining. He wasn’t used to the longing stares or the slight butterflies in his stomach. Yet here he was, thinking about you every single minute of every single day.
Erik sighed as he stared out, standing at the new Avengers tower balcony. You, Shuri, T’Challa, and him all set out to New York to battle the next big bad: Thanos. You four were the brain and muscle.
The doors had slid open and he spun around to meet your eyes. “Sorry.” You whispered, turning around to go back inside.
“You can stay.” He called out. You felt heat rising to your face as you turned back around to admire the sunset. “You do that, too?” He asked, thinking to himself wow this is the most I’ve ever said to her.
You nodded though he couldn’t see you. “Normally I look at it from the rooms that Mr. Stark provided, but I thought I should enjoy the weather today as well.”
“Yeah, being cooped up in a lab all day must suck.” Erik said, mentally facepalming. Of course you wouldn’t think it sucked. You loved being in a lab. But to his surprise you laughed.
“I miss Wakanda’s labs. I thought Stark Industries were supposed to be the best of the best. Shuri and I’s lab puts his whole tower to shame.” You joked.
Erik chuckled and a comfortable silence took over you both. He didn’t realize that you were standing next to him until he turned to look at you.
Your eyes were closed and the sun’s orange rays hit your skin in the most memorizing way. That’s when it hit him.
He’s gone soft over some girl he’s barely spoken to. This had been your only conversation and yet he’s head over heels for you.
“You are the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen.” Erik had whispered, breaking the silence.Your eyes snapped open and held his stare before shying your gaze away. He delicately placed a fingertip underneath your chin to bring your eyes back to his before placing a gentle kiss on your lips.
It was uncharacteristic for him to be so gentle with you, but he couldn’t help it. All his life he had been working so hard to be strong and unbreakable. And yet here he is. Putty in your hands, wrapped around your finger. You were the only thing that made him Soft. Not that he minded though.
And there goes Shuri and T’Challa watching the tender moment from the glass door. Shuri muttering a quiet, “I knew it all along,” as T’Challa handed her the crisp American hundred dollar bill. Not that it would do much dent to his wallet. He runs a whole fucking country.
