Introducing people to Gravez is hard. His tracks are a stirfry, completely delicious but hard to describe. This Atlanta producer juggles a bit of hip-hop, r&b, 80s pop, a touch of your grandmother's soul collection and that jazz kick for an impressive listen. His original works are a contradiction, mellow enough to bump to yet energetic enough that you can't sit still.
He turned a Rich the Kid and Migos hit into a bougie affair, if that's not talent, I don't know what is. Catch this member of the Soulection pack at the Jazz and Grooves show on Thursday at the Rotunda. More details and ticket info here.

What We Loved In 2014 (Pt. 2)
2014 was the year of bass. Whether it was from killer hip-hop tracks with indecipherable lyrics (see Rich Gang's Lifestyle), the return of funk and its energetic bass guitar riffs (see Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk) , or booty shaking pop anthems (see Meghan Trainor's All About that Bass). Rock also saw stars emerge and veterans dust off their laurels.
In other trends: we couldn't escape twerking vines (or Miley Cyrus), the Ice Bucket Challenge raised millions of dollars and destroyed countless weaves, people questioned the Grammys, Drake picked some fights, the Allman Brothers bid adieu, women dominated the charts, kale became a fashion item, and DJ Mustard was on EVERY beat.

Majid Jordan - Her (Stwo Edit)
If you didn't catch the hype surrounding OVO's new duo over the summer, this might be an incentive to start. Producers Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ulman dropped a beautiful, heartfelt EP A Place Like This in July offering an innovative interpretation to the R&B/electronic style emerging after gaining massive attention from producing Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home". "Her" offered a soppy ballad, complimented with relaxed percussion and ethereal synth. Stwo released a gorgeous edit today, slower with a hard-hitting bass to amplify evocative lyrics. Check it out.

For this installment of Mix Mondays LA based Schumacher brings us a smooth, funky, summery eclectic minimix to dip our toes into. The old school jazzy sound is a beautiful break from the head banging, drop seeking lifestyle we've become accustomed to. I promise it'll be the chillest 14 minutes of your day.
