In Defense of Armin Arlert
Okay. Armin is my second favorite after Eren! It’s a shame people would hate him. He’s so adorable and innocent (most of the time, anyways, when he’s not in his out of character moments)!
Reasons for being hated: weak, crybaby, pussy, feminine and girly, looks like a girl, complete wimp
Look, it’s true that Armin isn’t physically strong, but he’s a strategist, and his strategies are ALMOST ALWAYS effective. However, the situations have become more dire and he has to break his morals sometimes. He sometimes has to disobey the leaders when they aren’t available and use a plan B. Basically, he might not be strong like the other characters, but he’s basically the brains of the squad. And the stereotype for blondes is that they’re often portrayed as dumb, and Armin is an exception.
Look, what else would you do if you had to go through stuff like him? Would you sit around and cry or not? It’s really okay to cry in that sorta situations, so I don’t blame him.
Just because a character acts feminine, doesn’t mean they’re automatically hateable in my book. And honestly, Armin isn’t really feminine in the original series. He was more feminine in Attack on Titan Junior High. Besides, it’s normal for boys in Japan to be feminine. I know Armin isn’t Japanese, or even close, but kawaii isn’t really a gender role thing over there like it is here in the west, and Armin seems to like kawaii things in AOT Junior High.
Yes, I thought Armin was a girl when I first saw him, but honestly, just because someone looks like a girl, doesn’t mean they dress like one. Armin does NOT dress like a girl in the ORIGINAL series. He dresses pretty much like a guy. And then in the English version, he was voiced by a man and not a woman.
In conclusion, Armin isn’t all that bad as his haters say he is!
