Spot a Shark
The Grey Nurse Shark or Sand Tiger Shark is listed as a critically endangered species in New South Wales, Australia. On a recent visit to Sydney I had a chance to come face to fin with these impressive animals. On a day trip with PRO DIVE Manly to Magic Point I was lucky enough to see a large number Grey Nurse Sharks with a massive school of Yellow Tail circling them. ***Divers visiting this site that are able to get a picture of a Grey Nurse Shark in the wild can help conservation efforts by sharing their photos with "Spot A Shark". This non-profit organization can use photos of the sharks to identify each Grey Nurse shark by the markings and spots on their sides. This information helps naturalists to keep track of shark populations, and also helps them learn more about the habits of this vulnerable species.
