Hi! Here's a fanfic I wrote! It's young Snily, and it's the first time I've posted any sort of fanfiction, buttttt yeah, I thought I'd share. (Also, shoutout to @fwicksand for giving me the courage to post LOL)
No warnings, there's like... intense kissing, but that's it? (This is actually only the second time I've written romance, I usually write found-family! Maybe that's a warning in itself, heheh.) Basically, it's very fluffy. -w-
ANYWAY! Yeah. Uh. Thanks for reading if you do!

Lily had her hands in the pockets of her skirts, nonchalantly walking through the halls of Hogwarts. The thick, rubber soles of her shoes made dull thuds on the stone floor. Just as she reached her destination—a shadowed, discreet corridor—she darted her eyes around the premises, checking that no one was around (or had followed her).
All was quiet. Satisfied, she slipped into the corridor, leaning against the wall, the cold, rough stones jutting into her shoulder blades. Lily closed her eyes, savoring the stillness. Then a hand wrapped around her arm.
Lily jerked, almost yelping, but a long, slender finger pressed itself to her lips, effectively silencing her. The girl squinted her eyes at the blurry, Disillusioned form of Severus Snape.
“Did you really have to do that?” she hissed.
The top half of the blurry form shifted. Severus was shrugging, she was sure of it. Lily bet he was smirking, too.
“Always had a flair for the dramatics,” she muttered.
The boy scoffed. “You’re delusional.” He settled himself next to her against the wall.
Lily raised an eyebrow. “Keep calling me names, and maybe I’ll just take away your present.”
She heard the sound of his hand slapping his forehead. “Oh, woe is me, to go without a gift on the sad, sorry, miserable day of my birth! It’s not at all as if I’m used to the phenomenon.”
Lily pressed her lips together to hide her rising amusement and rolled her eyes instead at his antics. “Oh, do shut up, Sev.”
He ignored her. “My deepest apologies. I cannot bear the thought of going without a trinket to mark the day I grow ever closer to death. Should I, perhaps, get on my knees and beg? Prostrate myself at your feet?”
“You know what?” Lily pushed herself off the wall and made to stomp away from him, but long, lanky arms caught her, wrapping around her middle and pulling her fast to their owner’s chest.
The sarcastic, teasing tone of the boy turned into something more cautious, wary. “Too much?”
Lily spun around in his arms, finally allowing the amusement she had been swallowing to fully show on her face. She felt his slender form, which had been tensed, relax. She reached up carefully, finding his jaw in only two attempts (his spell really was quite good), then ran her forefinger against it. Her chest was flush against his, and she intimately felt the deepness of his sigh as if it was her own.
“I’d kiss you right now, Severus,” she said, smirking slightly at the way his arms briefly tightened around her waist, “but I’d prefer to look at your face as I do so.”
He hummed, the deepness of the sound reverberating through her chest. “Then we mustn’t tarry.”
“Ready to see the first bit of your present?”
Lily thought she saw him nod.
“Then follow me.” At that, she extracted herself from his arms, turned on her heel, and exited the desolate corridor. After a few moments, she heard the rustling of his robes behind her.
They climbed up and up the moving staircases until they reached the seventh floor (and the particular hallway Lily was searching for). She stopped in front of her destination.
“Just what I’ve always wanted,” Severus muttered dryly, his voice behind Lily and slightly off to her left. “A blank wall.”
Lily carefully stepped back, towards the direction of his voice, then jabbed her elbow backward. It hit something soft: his stomach, she presumed, as he coughed, doubling over slightly. She grinned, looking back over her shoulder in his apparent direction.
It took him a couple of seconds to catch his breath. “All… right, that was… justly deserved.”
Lily cocked her head, smugly smiling. “Came to that conclusion all by yourself, now, did you?”
She thought she saw him raise his chin. “Let it not be said… that I do not admit my faults,” he sniffed.
“How very grand of you.”
“Why, thank you.”
Lily let out a good-natured huff, then spun around, facing the empty wall. She closed her eyes, thinking of what she wanted most, then walked back and forth three times in front of the blank expanse of stone.
She heard Severus inhale sharply. Lily opened her eyes. A dark mahogany door stood before them. Without hesitation, she sauntered forward, opened the door, and gestured for Severus to go inside. “Ladies first.”
Severus flicked her shoulder as he walked past, causing her to snicker. The door swung shut behind them.
The young wizard took a moment to mutter the counter-spell, the glamoured camouflage seeming to drip off his visage. Lily was grateful, as now she was able to fully take in his reaction to the room.
It was beautiful. He was beautiful.
He had frozen. His lips were slightly parted, his dark eyes wide, sparkling with wonder. A similar look had been on his face when he had received his wand at eleven years old. In the face that was, day by day, slowly morphing into one of a man, Lily could see a bit of the child she had grown up with. Deep within her chest, something squeezed. It was almost painful. Was it sorrow? Yearning? Longing? She wasn’t sure. But she took it, that precious moment, and carefully tucked it away in her heart.
Then Lily turned, surveying the sights Severus was seeing for herself.
It was a place she had spent weeks carefully constructing in her mind. It was roomy, with a high, arched ceiling. An enormous window held the view of the grounds, rain steadily beating against the glass. Next to it, a fire was crackling in the hearth, sending a warmth of heat and light into the surroundings. The color scheme was dark blues and purples with small accents of gold, from the plush rug that covered the smooth wooden floor to the massive, canopied four-poster bed tucked away in the far corner. Lily had wanted the room to seem like the stars, as though they were tucked away in their own private universe. She wanted to feel safely hidden, and she knew that Severus would deeply appreciate that feeling, too.
Lily stepped behind him, curling her arms around his slight waist. She pressed her face in the space between his shoulder blades, murmuring, “We haven’t seen each other in quite a bit. I thought that, maybe, we could have a sleepover? Like we used to?”
Severus slowly turned. Lily’s cheeks flushed at the look he bestowed upon her. The boy had always been quite good at hiding his feelings, but one thing that Lily cherished most about their relationship was that he didn’t seem to feel the need to hide quite so much from her. And, in this moment, he certainly wasn’t. Deep care and affection bled into his dark eyes, the emotion spilling out into the form of a soft, gentle smile. He reached out, traced the back of his forefinger along her cheek. Lily’s eyes fluttered shut at the touch.
“It was a good thought,” he said softly. He paused. “May I kiss you?” His voice was a bit hesitant now, unsure.
Lily opened her eyes at that. “You don’t have to ask that,” she said, her voice equally quiet. “It’s your birthday.”
“I’d like to not fall into the habit of forcing myself upon you—”
“Severus,” Lily cut in, her lips twitching, “we’ve been dating for three months—”
“Two months, three weeks, and five days,” he interrupted.
Lily stared.
His shoulders climbed up to his ears. He coughed lightly. “Not… that I’ve been counting… or anything,” the boy muttered.
Lily grinned, shaking her head. “Well, in any case, you’re hardly forcing yourself on me.”
“Be that as it may, I—”
“You talk too much.” And she pressed her lips to his.
Lily closed her eyes at the familiar sensations that followed the act: her cheeks flushing, a warmth coiling its way into the pit of her stomach, her fingertips tingling. Her hands raised, threading themselves into his raven-colored hair, which was fluffy and silky-soft. He had showered recently, Lily thought, as she breathed in the scent of his shampoo and him. Her nails scratched at his scalp, and he let out a soft groan against her mouth, and now his hands were on her waist, pulling her flush against his torso.
Merlin, this felt—he felt—so, so, so good.
Had this lasted a few chance seconds? Minutes? Forever? Lily couldn’t tell, but she didn’t want to because it had been weeks, weeks since they had last properly interacted and she missed him, missed this, and she didn’t want it to end, no, something this good couldn’t ever possibly end—
They broke apart, panting slightly, cheeks tinged with pink. Severus rested his forehead against Lily’s, their breathing evening and matching.
“Hi,” Lily whispered.
Severus lightly squeezed her waist. “Hello.”
Lily moved to bury her face into the flat plane of his chest. “Missed you,” she muffled into the fabric of his uniform. Merlin, he smelled so good—
Severus breathed deeply, leaning over slightly to rest his chin on the top of her head. “And I, you.”
They stood like that for a few minutes, saying nothing, simply holding each other, before Lily pulled away. “Wanna change?”
Severus’ brows creased together in confusion. “Hm?”
Lily pointed to the bed, where two sets of pajamas lay.
Severus blinked. “Hm.” He shifted his gaze back to her, smirking appreciatively. “You really thought of everything, didn’t you?”
The girl shrugged, her mouth curling into a smile at his indirect praise. “I think it, the Room provides.”
“Really? Is that how this works?”
Lily nodded. “Why don’t you try it?”
Severus raised an eyebrow. “How would I go about it?”
“Just think about something you want,” Lily explained. “The rest will follow.”
The boy nodded thoughtfully, taking a moment to think. Then, a door to the right of them popped into existence. Severus glanced at Lily, to which she gave an encouraging thumbs-up. He stepped around her, softly stepped to the door, and opened it, peering inside.
“Huh.”
Lily peered in after him. She snorted. “A bathroom?”
Severus jerked a shoulder up. “So I can change!”
Lily faked a pout. “Aw, you don’t want to change out here with me?”
His reaction was priceless. Severus’ eyes bulged—they actually bulged—and his entire face flushed a deep shade of cherry red. “I—well, that is—erm, ah—”
The girl burst out laughing. “Kidding! Sev, I was joking, come on.”
He stared at her, the color in his cheeks slowly beginning to fade to its normal sallow-like paleness. Then he gathered the last shreds of his composure, looking entirely unimpressed. Severus muttered something unintelligible and stalked past her, giving Lily’s fiery-red head a light swat.
“Y’know, for a Slytherin, you really can be quite gullible!” she cheekily called after him.
“Oh, come off it,” he said, the bundle of clothing now gathered in his arms. He turned and walked back the way he came, his head high. The bathroom door closed with a sharp click.
Lily’s smirk faded to a smile as she stared at the door. Then she shook herself and quickly got into her own pajamas: flowy pants and a thick, aquamarine hoodie. She heard the bathroom door open and shut. The girl turned, plopping down on the bed.
Severus’ face was turned away from hers as he reentered the room. “Are you decent?” he muttered.
Lily huffed a laugh. “Yes, Sev. You can look.”
He did, making his way towards her. “You certainly seem cozy.”
Lily grinned. “So do you.” Severus was wearing a navy top and black pants. Both clothing items were soft and slightly weighted, per Lily’s inspiration. She glanced down. His feet were clad in black socks. Lily wrinkled her nose. “I will never understand why you wear socks to bed.”
Severus rolled his eyes. “Silly me, it’s my fault my hands and feet have poor circulation. Excuse me for wanting my appendages to be a suitable temperature.”
“Hmm, yes, your portable ice packs,” Lily nodded sagely. “Perfect for summertime, or when I have a fever.”
Severus hummed noncommittally. He slid beside her on the bed. “How did you find this?” he asked, gesturing to the room.
Lily brightened, clapping her hands together excitedly. “Y’know how I help the houselves sometimes in the kitchens?”
Severus nodded.
“Well, a bit ago I overheard them talking. They call this place ‘The Room of Hidden Things.’”
“Intriguing….” He traced his long fingers over his lips, brows furrowed together in thought.
“It appears to people who really, really need something,” Lily continued. “Some call it the soul of Hogwarts. That part’s more of a myth, though….”
Severus said nothing for a few long moments. “You know…” he began slowly, “I might have stumbled across this very place.”
Lily’s eyes widened. “Really?”
The boy slowly dipped his head, his gaze distant. “The Marauders were chasing me at the time, and I was running, attempting to find a place to hide.” He rubbed his fingers together, the only visible sign of his agitation. “I thought I was done for, but, out of nowhere, I spied a broom closet I had never noticed before. I dove inside, slammed the door. They ran past. I was tormented no further that day.” Severus took a deep breath. “And I… was never able to find that supply closet ever again. I wonder… I wonder if it was this. If the ‘soul of Hogwarts,’ as you put it, came to my aid.”
Lily mulled over his words. “Huh,” she finally said. “If that was the case, that would be the coolest thing ever.” She fell quiet, then said, “I can’t believe you were running.”
Severus looked at her, a question in his gaze.
“Well, I mean, you, who always look for a chance to one-up them?” Lily hastened to explain. “Get the upper hand, prove you shouldn’t be messed with? You were running?”
Severus bristled, just about to snap, but then saw that Lily wasn’t condemning him, just curious. He deflated, then, and looked away. “They had already broken my arm that day,” he muttered. His fists clenched. “I took a tactical retreat when the opportunity arose.”
Something cold slipped down the witch’s spine. “I’m sorry,” she hissed.
Severus jerked his head up, surprise etched on his face. Then he shook his head. His lips curled disdainfully. “It’s not your fault they’re pathetic piles of shit.”
Lily snorted, then took a couple of deep breaths, reigning in her anger. Then she started. “Oh! Right. The gift.”
Severus blinked. “This wasn’t the gift?” He waved a hand at their surroundings.
“Nooo,” Lily drawled, “it was just the first part.” She pulled a small bag from the pocket of her robes, reaching deep into its cavernous depths, sinking her arm all the way up to her shoulder in order to rummage around.
Both of Severus’ eyebrows raised. “An Undetectable Extension Charm?” His eyes glinted. “Wicked girl.”
“It’s all ‘cos of you and your Slytheriness. It’s rubbing off on me,” Lily said, still searching.
“That isn’t a word.”
“Well, now it is,” she retorted. “Found it! Ha!”
The girl pulled out a soft-looking, crocheted raven. It was clearly homemade, as it was a bit lopsided. Lily just seemed to realize this fact as she became suddenly nervous, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “I couldn’t wrap it, sorry, I just finished it tonight. Erm, but I made it! It’s just… you’ve always reminded me of a raven, so….” Her voice trailed off.
Severus reached out and carefully took the plushie from her. He studied the bird, stroking it with his thumb. When he looked up, the darkness of his eyes was warm, so warm. “Thank you. For thinking of me.”
Relief flooded through the girl at how touched he was by the gift. “Now you have something to sleep with when I’m not there,” Lily said, by way of explanation.
Severus smiled, a quick flash of crooked teeth. He briefly hugged the soft toy to his chest, then placed it in his lap, fiddling with its wings.
An easy silence fell. Lily decided to break it.
“What now?”
“You mean to say you don’t have an itinerary?”
Lily couldn’t decide if he was being sarcastic or not, so she rolled her eyes in response. “No. I just wanted to spend time with you.” She hitched her shoulder up. “It’s your birthday. What do you want to do?”
The young wizard looked up at her, then. He opened his mouth, paused. He shut it. Looked away. Lily watched his shoulders climb up to his ears.
Lily’s eyebrows shot up. Then she smiled deviously. Such a cute boy. All sharp edges on the surface, such softness in the center. And he was all hers.
“Don’t wanna say it?”
She knew his ears, hidden beneath his curtain of black hair, were bright red.
“Want me to guess?”
She heard him audibly swallow.
Lily slid closer to him, plucking the soft bird from his grasp, setting it off to the side. She climbed on top of him, straddling his lap, her knees gripping the sharp bones of his hips. “Let me take care of you?”
His breathing quickened at her words. Their eyes met, vulnerability swimming in Severus’ deep, dark depths. He gave a few quick nods.
So Lily tilted her head slightly, placing the soft fullness of her lips on his thin ones. Her hands slid underneath his soft shirt, scratching his back, her nails ghosting over his map of scars. She felt him shudder.
The girl pulled away, pushing Severus against the mattress. A small noise of protest escaped him from the sudden lack of contact, but then she leaned over him, running her hands over his arms until she reached his own, pushing them back so they were on either side of his head, palms up. She placed her hands next to his, effectively caging him, her long hair falling like a curtain around his face.
It was just them. It would always be just them.
With that thought, she kissed him again. Lightly, gently. And she knew that Severus liked the gentleness of her affection, the softness of it. He let out the quietest moan she had ever heard. It was full of need, want, and her knees squeezed his sides at the sound.
She kissed his forehead, lips ghosting over his skin, then pressed harder with her mouth, alternating pressures. She took her time as she kissed the hollows of his cheeks, his nose, his chin, the sharpness of his jaw. She nipped the shell of his ear, then moved further down, kissing his throat, his Adam’s apple. Warm, so warm, she was so warm, and her belly was on fire—
Severus’ breaths were coming quickly, so quickly. Throughout her ministrations, he was mostly quiet, except for a few choice whimpers and gasps. His entire body was trembling.
Severus wasn’t used to touch, especially touches such as those, the sensations sometimes so intense for him that it hurt. Lily had been easing him into this, little by little, over the past months, and, by now, she had a better grasp of when he reached his limit. She sat up, pushing her hair back from her face, taking him in from where she was seated on his stomach. And, Merlin, he was stunning.
Severus’ eyes were closed, his lips parted, his previously sallow cheeks holding a deep red blush, fingertips twitching on either side of his head. Lily tenderly brushed a strand of his hair away from his face. He looked to be in utter bliss, so completely and utterly undone. She loved being able to bring this side out of him—needy and soft and affection-starved. Merlin’s beard, she loved him.
The girl threaded her fingers through his. “Enjoying your 16th birthday, Severus?”
His chest was still heaving. He nodded a couple of times, his eyes still closed, still breathless.
“Gonna lord it over me that you reached the milestone first?”
His lips twitched. He shook his head. “Be… your turn… mere three… weeks.”
Lily smiled. “Yeah. Guess so.”
Severus opened his eyes. They gazed at each other.
Lily’s voice turned soft. “How do you feel?”
Severus’ breathing was beginning to even, though it took him a bit to respond. “Loved,” he eventually said. “Cherished.” His eyes glimmered with something unshed.
Her own widened. Was he—was he going to cry?
But he blinked rapidly, the shine disappearing. “What can I… do for you?” he suddenly asked.
“Hm?”
“Made me feel… so nice. What can I… do for you in return?”
Lily shook her head quickly. “You don’t have to—this, all of this, is about you—”
Severus squeezed her hands. “Please. I’d like to.”
Lily bit her lip, thinking. Then—
“Hold me.”
He gave a short nod. He sat up, Lily moving off of him, allowing him to arrange himself more comfortably against the pillows. Then he held out an arm. “C’mere,” he said, his posh speech slipping for an instant, eyes impossibly soft.
Lily swallowed a sudden lump in her throat, then moved and collapsed against him, burrowing as deep as she could into his arms.
A big, thick, downy comforter popped into existence on top of them. The lights dimmed.
Lily giggled. “Which one of us was that?”
“Hmmm… perhaps us both?”
“Hmmmmmm….”
Lily shifted, twining her legs through his, positioning her head on his chest so she could listen to the lullaby of his heart. So warm, so secure. The girl gripped him tighter, struck with the thought of just how glad she was that he was alive and breathing. Where had that come from?
A hand carded through her hair. Lily let out a soft sound of contentment at that, slipping her hand under his top and beginning to trace patterns on his belly, his bare flesh prickling at her touch. His stomach rose and fell in a deep, deep sigh.
Many, many minutes of quiet passed.
“So happy,” Severus whispered into the darkness, his voice thick.
Lily nuzzled closer (if that was even possible) into his side. The hand that had been on his belly was now tucked under her chin. “Yeah?”
She felt his chin bob as he nodded. “My love,” he breathed, his voice shaking slightly. “My best friend.”
Lily further relaxed at the sincerity of his words, the affection that radiated off them, and she melted into his everything. She didn’t think she would ever get tired of how their bodies fit so perfectly together. “Forever and ever,” she whispered.
They were safe. Nothing could touch them. Not the war brewing and bubbling around them, not the prejudice of blood status and house expectations. They were… so… safe.
The fire crackled as the pair drifted off to sleep, cocooned in each other’s arms.
Severus & Lily's sisterhood was imperfect, but their platonic love for each other saved the world.
