A federal court threw out the indictment against a man found in possession of marijuana saying the dog handler training for the state of Utah is defective and actually certifies dogs which are improperly trained.

In a reversal, Pa. Supreme Court says police can’t search cars without a warrant

Philadelphia’s current directive permits warrantless searches whenever police have reason to believe contraband is present.

This is one of the year’s little victories!

One drawback is that this could radicalize police in how they handle DUI pullovers. “Oh I smell weed,” or “oh, you seem under the influence.”

Used to be police could search your car with this probable cause. Now they have to get a warrant to search your car to show there were drugs in your car, and based on that. This could incentivize them to take more aggressive measures when/if you get pulled over.
