Your art is just... Mind blowing. I literally had a heart attack realizing your Anna drawing was not a painting. I feel like a rennaisance master painter somehow time traveled, opened a Tumblr, and draws Shadowhunters fanart. It's a BLESSING. You use procreate right? What kind of brushes/other settings do you use? Because when ever I use it the blending never works that seamlessly, and I'm dying. Not that I can ever reach ur level but like. Any help is appreciated. Pls and thank u!!!! 💕
Aww thank you so much! I do indeed use Procreate and here is a wee guide to how I draw I guess, I feel like a mama bird talking to her wee birdlings omg what are baby birds called? (Eggs???)
Okay so the only brush I use is the oil paint because I’m lazy, and I also only use one layer to draw because as you guessed: I’m a lazy drawer but with good grammar so swings and roundabouts.
Whenever I start a realistic piece I always drop in and use the darkest shade on the photograph as my base because this forces you to really work at getting your lighter colours in
When picking colours I never use the palette tool because I feel like this really boxes in my options and makes me use the same three or four shades over and over again which just isn’t realistic because faces are full of beautiful shades and no two are the same! Should I need a new shade, I always use the photograph and the dropping tool in a system of: drop and shade drop and shade. This is a slow process but in my experience it works! I also use about 40% opacity and 40% size but this can change depending on what I’m drawing.
If I feel like it I might use the light brush tool to add really bright arches onto the point of the nose, the eyes, and lips.
I hope this helps, if you need any more info please feel free to DM me or send another message like this. (This goes for everyone on my tumblr xx)
I also remembered baby birds are called chicks.
