Do you have any fandoms you read for, but don't write for?
Cool question! Usually, I’m so busy with writing ideas that I barely read, unfortunately. Any rec I reblog is something you know actually hooked me enough to pull me away from my work.
So right now no, I don’t read any fandoms I’m not writing for. When it happens, it happens because I liked a movie or a show and immediately found a few fics so good that I did not feel compelled to contribute any of my own thoughts to the fandom. Cuz someone else already got that shit COVERED. This is what happened for weeks and weeks to me with The Mandalorian; @no-droids‘s Rough Day was so perfect I didn’t need to imagine my own plot at all.
(Ultimately the appeal of Mando was so strong that my brain decided the fandom could handle my kinky projections onto him too. Thanks to all that have supported me in this endeavor!)
I would say the last fandom I read a lot from was Dirk Gently; I consumed like every dirty fic with the Rowdy 3 after watching a youtube compilation of only their scenes. I have literally no idea what the rest of that show is about though. Michael Eklund as Martin was just too delicious and I went balls deep into that tagent for a while.
I suppose I’m pointed in this direction with Vikings, too. I may finish Playing House one day, but I’m probably done with canon-compliant works for that one. However I still read fics from my favorite authors over there, who are still going strong with creative AUs and heartrending romances that put the actual show to shame!!!
