When we got to see Solum in the series, the first thing that caught my eye were the guards and their outfit design — specifically the head pieces. After some looking up, thinking it may be Victorian, and also just rethinking how the Vau N'Akat citizens dressed, it looks like they have inspiration from Medieval times. The head-pieces the guards wear looked medical/doctor-ish to me, but that was just because it also looks like they're wearing face-masks (which brings up some other questions as to: for why?) and actually it's probably just a stylized Escoffion/Horned Hennin (from the 15th century) that really falls on the side of their heads rather than above the ears or atop the head. And all of this really gives a vibe of how their society is: a futuristic past, like, they made it work but also improved it enough to get to sci-fi levels that is said in show to surpass Starfleet.

Wish we had more seasons and story with Solum and the Vau N'Akat, and how it is there. Would love it too to have novels that talk and visit there :)

I think Ilthuran has a messed up sleep schedule because of all his Stargazing. Literally falls asleep anywhere during the day, even mid-work, half on a table, sometimes on the floor even, whenever he sits, even mid cleaning up his tools. And everyone is so used to it they’re just: “ there he goes again, someone make sure he’s not in the way to possibly get hurt”

I like to pause when there’s a mass of people in a 3D animated show, because if it’s not a big movie, the funding and time creating the show is usually small.

Like in Star Trek Prodigy, I see like two EXACT models being twins (so a double of two different models) and a model being reused with minimal difference (mainly clothes and color of headpiece) of the Vau N’Akat.

And there’s NOTHING wrong with this, 3D modeling is time consuming and animating so frustrating (I’ve taken 3 3D modeling classes and my friends took 3D Rigging and animating ones), and the motto of an artist is: Work Smarter, Not Harder.

I’m just a nerdy artist and like to catch these little things 🤭
