WIP: Project Rosary

Hello and welcome back to a new writing log.

I am slowly coming near the halfway mark in my Project Rosary Part 1. Even though life is stressful right now (exam season started in Germany two weeks ago), I am fairly consistent in writing every morning before studying.

Creating stories in these times is crucial for me. I immediately feel stressed, when I cannot write (especially if people tell me to not write during the exam phase!). It is like my little escape from everyday work.

But to be honest with you, I am currently a bit unmotivated. Not only because stuff currently happens within my family, but also because everything seems to be quite exhausting. So, what’s been new these days, is that I am trying to get anything down. A new Tumblr post, stuff for my project, new stuff… All of that.

Some of you have already seen that I came up with a new kinda fantasy story, that has no particular meaning, whatsoever.

It doesn’t have a name, beside the codename for Tumblr, so I can tag it: Project Unnamed. It is probably the shittiest story I have ever written. Not only because it is mainly pure Romantasy, which I normally don’t write, but also the fact, that I am writing some elven romance thing while complaining about how many elven or fae romance is out there? It’s kinda ironic.

To give you a little insight in the quick story (including some fancy banners I made for this):

It is about a somehow royal girl (I haven’t decided on that just yet), who lives in a world where magic is banned and seen as a wicked thing. One day, she gets in danger in the nearby woods, where a mysterious man saves her. Fascinated by his ethereal presence, she decides to find him again (which obviously works), where she finds out that he is able to control magic. He seems to come and go like a spirit and so she calls him the white spirit, also because he doesn’t tell her anything about him, besides the facts, that are obvious to her. She gets him to teach her about magic and soon enough, she finds out, that she can use the forbidden force too. They kinda have a secret relationship going on (with probably many red flags - I don’t know if he is a good or a bad guy). The drama comes from the secret relationship and when people find out about the elf in the forest.

I already know that this is going to be bad. I have no intention on publishing it. Maybe one day on Wattpad or as snippets here on Tumblr, but this is probably the most cliché Romantasy story you can come across. Even though I kinda like the characters…

But this is never going to any publisher in this world. It’s to bad for that.

If you are lucky enough to grasp an update on this story in form of a writing log, you are probably blessed. Project Unnamed is not even considered an active WIP.

But back to the original project, of which I am very proud of.

Project Rosary is still right before the half-time of the book, but I only have to finish the current scene and I am done. I like the pace in which things are falling together. Also, because I have the time to come up with solutions to plot holes in the storyline.

Now, as I am slowly coming to the end of one book of the series, I ask myself more, if I should wait until all seven books are done and then publish the first one. If people read the current book first, they will be (a little bit) spoilered for the rest. But if I publish the rest first, they get spoilered for the current book. It’s a bit of a challenge here, since everything connects to each other.

Luckily, I have until the final draft is done, to decide wether or not I publish now or later.

Find the vibe

Thank you @kaatiba for the tag and the new inspiration! 🩵

The vibe I got was: “This hunger's a living thing."

As already announced ✨here✨, instead of searching in Project Rosary for this vibe (I cannot share anything of it right now), I wrote something completely new.

Now, instead of a short excerpt, I created something longer and maybe, this could be fleshed out in the future (maybe here on Tumblr?).

So, this is not your normal tag game. This is more an excerpt shared with you, attaching a tag game to it.

Please share your thoughts on this and how you like it. Maybe, I will continue to write more to this setting, to this story and share it with you here. With enough people who are curious, I will consider creating a thread to this, where I try and update regularly.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 (𝒚𝒆𝒕) 𝑼𝒏𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒅

The alleys lay dark and empty behind her as she looked around nervously, the hood of her brown coat pulled low over her face. If someone recognized her, ratted her out to the guards, she might never get a chance to leave the town again. But the cold rain was her only companion. The wet cobblestones of the street shimmered black under her feet as she wound her way through the alleys as quietly as possible. The danger of someone appearing and looking her in the eye was on her neck even before she left, but she couldn't help but leave. Than leave the city walls behind for the night. Something was pulling her out. Or rather someone. Just before she reached the iron gates, she disappeared into the alcove of a nearby house. As quietly as possible, she pulled the nail that served to close the ventilation hatch from its socket and lifted the metal grille. One last look over her shoulder before she disappeared into the darkness of the basement. She carefully pushed the nail back into place before turning around. Complete darkness lay before her and instinctively she clutched at the white stone of her necklace. She whispered the words quietly to herself and only a little later the stone lit up and revealed a view of a long corridor. While everyone was familiar with the subterranean passages, no one in the Guardians' Guild saw them as a serious problem. A circumstance that had often helped her to flee the city. She knew the corridors almost by heart and after only a few forks in the road, she reached the surface again. A look told her that she had left the city walls behind and with a relieved sigh the light of her chain faded. Without giving it another thought, she turned away and hurried down the path toward the woods. The paths, lined with trees and rocks, were winding and she almost lost her way if her heart didn't guide her. With every step she took, the rain got heavier. Her clothes were now soaked and offered little protection from the cold. Suddenly her necklace began to shimmer again, softly, like moonlight on a clear summer night, and as she hurried around the next bend in the road, she saw it. Carved into the high gray rock was the front of a mighty cathedral. The red leaves of the autumn trees lay like a carpet on the steps leading to the great entrance portal. But the double doors stood open, throwing the faint flicker of the torches inside onto the forest path at their feet. Then she saw him. Arms folded across his chest, he leaned in the cathedral's doorway and fixed her with his bright, ice-blue eyes. A slight shimmer seemed to emanate from him and instinctively she stopped at the bottom of the steps.

"You shouldn't have come here." His soft, dark voice sent a shiver down her spine. With a flowing movement he pushed himself off the stone and slowly came down to her, his intense gaze still resting on her.

"And yet you waited for me," she answered softly. At the last step he stopped and looked at her. His silence stretched and she had to look away nervously. His fingers curled warmly under her chin and instantly the white stone of the necklace gleamed as he gently forced her to look up at him.

"I always wait for you, Aesherèth." She closed her eyes with a shudder as she repeated his description of her like an echo in her head. Aesherèth. Star. From the moment she first met him, a white ghost in the middle of a gray forest, she was drawn to him. Into his protective arms and his warm walls of the stone cathedral. It was a living desire, seeking air and sustenance, and only he seemed able to give it to her.

"Let's go inside." Distracted by his touch, she nodded weakly, but as soon as the warm fingers on her neck disappeared, she was snapped back to reality. Looking up at him, she was aware that he could see the hunger in her eyes he had inspired in her. A smile curled his lips as he looked at her before turning and walking back toward the cathedral. Without hesitation she followed him. As soon as she entered the interior, the huge portal closed behind her with an audible click and she jumped nervously for a moment. Even if she had been here many times before, she would never get used to the magic. Magic was banned in society and only the Guardians' Guild was allowed to possess magical artifacts. But the white spirit of the woods was not only someone with a source of light, but also the subject of many haunted tales, often told to her as a child, as a deterrent against magic. As she followed him, staring at his straight back, she often wondered how much was true about him, for while he wasn't the monster everyone spoke of, she often wondered what caused the loss of space and time triggered when he touched her.
