Start of final Semester
in terms of project theme for this final module I am going to slight change my current theme but keep with the same elements , in the previous module I explored verbal sexual harassment and although the topic has been very interesting and something I have felt passionate about I keep coming up against the issue of people now understanding how my material links to my theme so instead I would like to simplify the theme in order for my practical to be the voice , as for my theme I am going to look at perception , this idea came to me when reading ways of seeing by John Berger in the book he talks about reproduction and how when piece of work is reproduced its meaning changes , depending on how its viewed and how accessible it has become , for example wether it is viewed on a iPhone vs Gallery the surroundings of the work can imply its meaning as well which means its all about perspective , this then got me thinking about my current practice of working with live flowers , there life is like a ticking time bomb the perspective changes every second of every minute as they constantly change but what if their was a way of capturing them in their best form in the way of reproduction but in a more immortal material which then got me thinking about tissue paper ...... tissue paper is a light delicate material very similar to flower petals , when both surfaces are wet they become soft and easy to tear , they are both light materials , and they are of similar density ( very thin) , flowers are made up of layers of petals , tissue paper is made up of layer of microscopic thin paper , which has led me to the idea of using the material to re create floral forms , but this is something I would need to research into maybe on somewhere like youtube as there will be tutorials I can follow.
is any of my research from last year of use to current ?
absolutely yes especially my artist research which I will be revisiting especially the work of artist Rebecca Louise Law as she has been an artist of huge influence to my practice whilst I have been working with flowers .
whats no longer no good ?
I feel my research into flowers themselves and their symbolism is no longer needed for my project as I am moving onto a theme of perspective and the flowers just happen to be a medium of choice and I am treating this module as the part two of the first one and believe in my first module I gained a high standard understanding of floral forms and their behaviours within certain environments.
