Summary: Sometimes, a party is nothing compared spending time on a quiet river with someone you care about.

Halfway into the late stages of the party, it was only after Beelzebub polished another flaming ribeye that he noticed your absence in the room.
Like any other night, he'd just assume you were off with one of his brothers, the royals, Solomon, or the angels, and he'd carry on eating without a care in the world.
As his eyes tracked around the room, however, he noticed that all of the names he listed were present, save for the members of Purgatory Hall who were leaving early, yet you couldn't be found anywhere in the vicinity.
The night was late, and the drunkeness of nearby demons were beginning to show. Anything that might happen to the human at this hour was not only very possible, but would also be very disasterous.
Still, it'd be better to scout the venue before raising any alarms.
Arming himself with containers full of food left on the table, Beelzebub ventured outside, the night sky overlooking the garden seemingly brightened by the lights of the party that spilled over. Yet among the faceless crowd he still didn't find you, and dread was starting to pool in his gut.
He almost missed the trail by the bushes, fresh footsteps leading down away from the garden and into a small river, where he found the human completely still on the bench.
He called their name, once, twice, and it was by the third time, as he neared their figure, did they snap their head towards him. Their eyes widened, lost and confused to his sudden intrusion for a second, before they changed to a friendlier expression, a small smile and a nod of acknoledgement to his presence, as they shifted to the side, patting the space beside them on the bench for the Avatar of Gluttony to sit.
He gave them a once-over, eyes scanning for any injuries, and it was only when he was satisfied with their condition did he sit by their side, unloading contents of food from his containers while the human returned their attention back to the river in front of them. The croaks from frogs and the splashing of the water filled up the silence between the two.
This wasn't the first time the human ran off alone, searching for spots overlooked by the rest, looking for spaces they could call their own.
This was, however, the first time he'd encountered them in these spots. Normally it'd be Mammon or his brothers who'd find them first, and drag them back to the House of Lamentation if they stayed out too late.
He began to wonder what his brothers would've done in this situation. Would they try to engage in conversation? Berate the human again for their recklessness for wandering off alone? Maybe continue to sit in silence like this?
Given the context of the entire situation at hand: a party really late into the night filled with drunken demons; a vulnerable human all alone with no one to protect them; and their choice to seclude themselves in an extremely obscure and hidden space, the urge to remind them to at least tell someone when they were going somewhere was growing which each second he spent dwelling on their fate had he not found them on the bench.
"The moon seems so bright tonight."
The words from the human pulled him from his thoughts, they were looking up now, their back rested against the bench, seemingly much more relaxed as compared to their stiff upright posture when he first saw them. The look on their face was calm, and yet their eyes looked drained of energy as they stared at the night sky.
"...It is isn't it?" He agreed, his mind trying to rack up information to include into the conversation, but the events of the day had drained whatever mental energy he had left, and disappointment seeped through as he drew nothing but blanks, though the human didn't seem to mind.
"Sorry I didn't say where I went, my phone's dead and I figured I'd hang back here for a short while, never thought time would pass by so fast...There's no one waiting for us right?"
"It's fine," he replied, checking his phone to no new messages, "I'll just tell them you're with me if they ask for you." His brothers still partying away into the night.
Other than the food, he doesn't miss the party, he wasn't fond of the company of strangers anyway.
"You can go back if you want, I'll stay here for a little while more and then join you, alright?."
The human looked at him with a sheepish grin on their face, gesturing to the near empty containers by the bench and on his lap. He didn't even realise when he was nearly done with his stash, the hunger pangs seemed so mellow in the human's company.
He was hungry, of course he was, but as he thinks about eating without the human by his side, he finds the hunger almost unbearable.
"There's no need for that, I can stay with you for however long you want."
Here, at least, he feels slightly satiated, even if he were to eat absolutely nothing but air.
