I saw a fic about Pure Vanilla being one of First Milk's servants so... fem Pure Vanilla being suggested as the Prophet to help the Fount? First Milk has total trust in her but Fount being "mildly" concerned that this companion will be used to spy on him. But she is very sweet-looking and gentle...
I loooooove this idea
Imagine ProphetFount... except soul jam wielders get animal traits.
So, Pure Vanilla, fresh from nearly dying in childbirth, starts feeling strange. She assumes it's the natural aftermath of childbirth or her body adjusting to immortality and brushes it off. Her mother never mentioned itchiness in her back but who knows?
Until one morning Fount wakes up and gets smacked in the face by wings.
"R-really, my dove, they're quite beautiful —,"
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THIS WAS A POSSIBILITY?!?!"
"Don't worry!! Once you get used to them, you'll be able to hide them away — no one'll ever have to know!"
"..."
"..."
"SO I AM UGLY??"
The Prophet starts using her wings to physically block her husband from getting to her or seeing their babies.
The Fount grovels. He hadn't meant to imply her wings made her ugly, he just didn't want her to be uncomfortable with her new features.
It takes probably a month, but one night, The Prophet is angrily ripping old feathers out, but she's really struggling. She's never had feathers. She's never needed to preen before.
The Fount watches from the bedroom window. He sighs and silently enters. Letting his own moonlit, stardusted wings unfurl.
He sits behind her and his wings envelop them both entirely.
The Prophet gasps and her whole body tenses up when The Fount begins to preen her.
Gently. Ever so gently.
His hands ghost over each feather, and he only plucks the ones that are no longer connected. He smooths everything down and pulls his wife back into his arms.
She squirms uncomfortably, but his wings ruffle and shimmer around them.
"Please...I miss my wife...please, forgive me."
Angst ProphetFount thought… when tending to the people of the Kingdom of Knowledge, Pure Vanilla is asked to heal someone that… she immediately recognizes as one of the patients in the Sanctum of Healing that tore her down. They might not remember her, but she does.
I imagine this would still be early in her stay at the Kingdom Of Knowledge. She and The Fount haven't done anything physical yet, but she definitely has feelings for him.
The reason being that, First Milk still knows Pure Vanilla to be her best healer, and she knows she's still trying to find her footing and earn her new kingdom's trust.
So First Milk sends a familiar face there, unaware of the cruel words they once spat at her favorite healer.
Pure Vanilla reads over the letter from First Milk and tries not to let her panic or anger show on her face.
It's clear the cookie doesn't recognize her. Her braid is no longer pinned at the base of her skull, rather it hangs freely, and she (at least currently) is wearing the crown her Fount made her. And going from wearing pure white robes to the dark colored and gold robes to match her Fount probably doesn't help.
Regardless, the cookie is standing before her, mumbling about having to come all the way to Beast-Yeast.
Pure Vanilla heals him, because of course she does, and she keeps her end of the conversation light and noncommittal. Thankfully, The Fount comes looking for her, and when he sees her working, he sits and watches and makes actual conversation with the man.
"You know," the cookie smiles and stretches, after Pure Vanilla pulls her hands away, "That First Milk Cookie has really improved on her staff and who she works with."
Pure Vanilla clenches her fists in her robes, "Oh?"
"Yeah," the cookie nods, "She used to employ this whale of a cookie. Some blonde woman that wasn't worth all that knowledge in her head."
"Really? That doesn't sound like mother." The Fount frowns.
"My buddy who goes there for his chronic pain says the big one used to skim food portions off the patients trays." The cookie laughs.
Pure Vanilla bites her lip and stands, "Sorry, but I promised one of the mothers I would teach her how to nurse her child." She bows her head goodbye to them.
"Oh...okay." The Fount watches her go, then turns to the cookie, "Do you happen to remember the cookie's name? I will inform my mother of any misconduct that may be happening."
"Uhh, yeah, Pure Vanilla or something like that —,"
The cookie never even saw The Fount's fist coming for his face.
I wonder if First Egg is connected to the St. Pastry Order in the ProphetFount AU...
Considering she is suspected of wanting to steal the First Batch's power, I wouldn't put it past her to be involved in someway (perhaps that vision Doughael saw was less prophetic and more deliberate than they were led to believe 👀)
...Bitter exes Fountsalt going nuts in the ProphetFount AU bc the difference between their companions. One is an assistant turned lover while the other is a criminal turned spy (slowburn lover).
(And it probably gets worse if the other Virtues knew what Salt was planning.)
Ohhhohohohooooo someone knows I like bitter exes SilentShadow~
The Virtues get together for a meeting to discuss anything concerning happening around Earthbread.
Fount, with his very pregnant Prophet by his side (he's worried if he leaves her home alone she won't rest properly or take care of herself, so if he keeps her with him, he can at least be sure she's eating and sleeping) surprises his fellow Virtues with how happy and content he is.
The Herald thumps him on his back and congratulates him.
The Bringer coos and flies around Pure Vanilla ecstatically talking about all the cute baby clothes she'll have sent over to them.
Mystic Flour just smiles. She's indifferent towards children (She loves the Haetae family that resides in her pagoda and she adores their child, but they are the exception).
But Salt??
Salt sees his ex, who he devoted so much time to, who he nearly lost to corruption...
Why had he never looked at him that way?
Why had he not been enough?
He comes out of that meeting, not having listened to a word any of his fellow Virtues said, but learning one thing.
He hates Pure Vanilla Cookie.
ProphetFount Fount taking a minute to process that there are twins. He was there, he saw them both be born, but between the birth and Pure Vanilla's state, it takes a few seconds.
The minute it processes he's smothering Pure Vanilla with kisses, thanking her, overjoyed at the sight of two precious babies that look like his bride.
Fount stared hard at his fiance as she nursed the boy.
Twins...
They'd had twins...
His fiance had collapsed on their way to bed, and when he'd scooped her unresponsive body into his arms, he'd noticed the jam pooling out between her legs.
Twelve hours of labor (nearly a month and a half early) and their baby girl had been born. It had been touch and go the whole time and more than once The Fount thought he was going to lose them both.
The Fount hadn't even take a breath to relax once their daughter came out because his mother quickly looked and said, "Crowning! Another baby is coming!" She'd handed their baby girl off to First Cream and immediately resumed her position at the foot of the bed, "Pure Vanilla, sweetie, you're still in labor. Baby number two needs your help."
"Number two?!" Pure Vanilla cried. Her whole body was trembling in pain and pale from jam loss. She threw her head back and sobbed, "I - I can't! It hurts!"
The Fount had taken her hand and squeezed, "It's okay, dove." He kissed her sweaty forehead.
Pure Vanilla hadn't wanted to, but she pushed.
Their son had come out so small and so quiet, but after a tense minute where nothing seemed to be going right, he let out a scream and began to cry.
"How is he?" The Fount spoke up.
First Milk looked up and smiled at him, "Everything seems to be fine. He's got a good, strong grip." She turned to show him his son (he had a son!!). He was vanilla-doughed like his mommy, but his cheeks were flushed blue showing them his jam was blueberry (like his), and he had a few pale yellow curls on his head. He was currently asleep and clinging to First Milk's pinkie.
The Fount nodded.
Twins.
He looked at his fiance, who was looking at their daughter.
She had his blueberry blue dough, and the few sprigs of hair she had were split between his blue and her yellow.
Twins...
They'd had TWINS!!
The Fount cupped Pure Vanilla's face in his hands.
"My Fount?" She looked at him confused.
He pressed their lips together, pouring all of his love, admiration, fear, joy, and excitement into the kiss, "Thank you!" He gasped as he broke their kiss just as suddenly as he'd initiated it. Then he dove into for another kiss, "Thank you, my Prophet!" He began to pepper her with kisses between his praise, "Twins! You've blessed us with twins!" And he began to cry tears of joy, then he looked down and carefully kissed the top of his daughter's head while she continued to nurse. "Twins!!" He whispered excitedly.
He looked at his mother and made grabby hands.
First Milk chuckled, but passed his son to him. The Fount peppered his cheek with kisses, "My brave boy!" Then he turned and kissed Pure Vanilla again, "I love you so much."
And he was so overcome with joy and relief, he felt all of Beast-Yeast should know and celebrate!
...oh god imagine Salt's reaction to GOOD news in ProphetFount AU.
He receives news that the Lady Prophet's labor has started with concerning signs. Any updates are sparse, with mentions of First Vanilla and even First Cream coming to attend, only suggesting that things are going poorly. He refuses to say a word, worried that laughter will escape instead.
And then-
It's twins, a healthy daughter and son, and a gift from the Witches given to all the companions making sure Pure Vanilla is alive and well.
"Lord Commander?" The Kala Namak Knight at his personal chamber doors tilted their head, "Did you hear me?"
Ohhhh Salt had heard him, alright.
Pure Vanilla Cookie had gone into labor early.
According to what his knight had just told him, his Fount and The Prophet had just retired to the Spire for the evening, but The Prophet hadn't even made it up the stairs before collapsing.
Jam. The Knight said there'd been a lot of jam loss.
"Leave me." Salt said.
"Of course, Lord Commander." As soon as the door was closed, Salt covered his mouth to keep from cackling.
Wouldn't it just be divine if his Fount saw just how fragile and temporary The Prophet was?
And if the poor mortal happened to crumble?
Well, Solidarity could be found in mourning.
Unfortunately, hours passed without news of The Prophet's untimely demise. Salt resumed his work, overseeing his knights, routing out commands, issuing restocks, and doling out reformation to those who committed blasphemous betrayals of their codes.
"Lord Commander? Saint Lily?" A knight stepped into the war room and bowed her head, "News from the Kingdom of Knowledge."
"Pure Vanilla?" White Lily sat up from her chair in the corner, "Is she alright?"
The knight opened and closed her mouth, then sighed, "Three of the First Witches have arrived at The Fount of Knowledge's Spire."
"Three??" White Lily gasped.
"Who?" Salt narrowed his eyes at them.
"First Cream, First Vanilla...and even First Milk."
First Milk, who had vowed to never leave the Sanctum of Healing so long as there was a cookie within that needed her help, at the Spire.
Oooooh Salt could have laughed with joy.
If three of the First Witches were there, it could only mean things were looking grim for The Prophet.
Instead, he just hummed and dismissed the knight.
Salt went to bed, content in the knowledge that tomorrow morning he'd likely be woken by the news of Pure Vanilla's ultimate crumbling.
Unfortunately, he was woken with the worst news possible.
"Twins." The knight nodded and smiled, "A healthy baby girl and boy."
"Twins." Salt repeated in disbelief.
The knight laughed, "I know, Lord Commander. Even The Fount of Knowledge had no clue his fiance was expecting twins!"
"Twins..."
"The whole Kingdom of Knowledge is celebrating and The Fount of Knowlege has extended invitations to all of Beast-Yeast to celebrate the birth of his children and his wife's well-being through such a traumatic ordeal."
"Twins." Salt growled.
Truly, was there no mercy in the world for him?
