I see a lot of Chengsu based on canon divergence where Qin Su ends up with Jiang Cheng after being married to JGY and I understand the appeal of that kind of dynamic but I would like to see an AU where Qin Su of "I understand this man is a bastard and son of a prostitute but goddammit I am going to be with that man whatever it takes" stubbornness is rescued by Jiang Cheng instead and decides she's gonna go for it. Who cares if his sect has been destroyed and they're politically weak and his brother is going off the rails? She wants that man.

Help Your Nephew (fanfic idea)

Yuan is in a dark place. They took his ribbon. He is cold. All he can think of is his Father's desperate call of his name.

The premise of this is Lan Yuan is identified as the Last Wen of during a discussion conference. While he's a child.

He is arrested. Taunted and striped of the Lan direct Family identifiers. His cloud ribbon and outer robes.

Xichen was delayed in a negotiation turned bad Night Hunt not able to arrive for the conference. Thus Wangji not only had to attend but also bring his son along. The only people he trusts are his brother and a mother of a boy Yuan has gotten close to.

Yuan is not only hurt in front of him. Wangji was restrained while it happens.

As much as he dislikes Jiang Wanyin for allegedly killing Wei Ying. Wangji figures that Jiang Wanyin would be easier to convince than the Nie. And with the Elders in attendance with him sabotaging Wangji's efforts of rescuing his son.

Jiang Chaing is a raging ball when Lan Wangji finishes. They aggressively oppose the execution of a child who's only chime is his Birth name of Wen.

Once Yuan is revealed to be a child. Nie Mungjue is absolutely in agreement.

In the end Lan Yuan now has an uncle in Jiang Chaing and visits Lotus pere with his Cousin Jin Ling in the Summers.

There was always a weird sort of......tension between Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian that Jiang Cheng never got. The two had a rough relationship to start off with in high school since Lan Wangji always ignored Wei Wuxian’s attempts at friendship and Wei Wuxian fluttering around him and annoying him until a snapping point in their second year. 

Wei Wuxian had understood then that Lan Wangji didn’t want to be his friend and left him completely alone. Jiang Cheng had wanted to punch Lan Wangji then for leading his brother on for a year only to yell at him to ‘get lost’ and then subsequently make Wei Wuxian, who had always been smiling, cry in the privacy of his room.  

Their third year rolled around and Lan Wangji had come to apologize to Wei Wuxian who was indifferent - and still hurt - but nevertheless accepted his apology. Lan Wangji then began to trail around an uncaring - not really - Wei Wuxian and trying to become his friend(?). His efforts didn’t work and it only served to drive a wedge between them.

That is, until they happened to get accepted into the same college. (Jiang Cheng got in too, but that’s besides the point.) Wei Wuxian had, by then, accepted his sexuality - being bi - and was comfortable flirting with anyone and everyone interested. That, of course, included Lan Wangji who had somehow managed to get into Wei Wuxian’s good graces again.

Anyway. So. Lan Wangji actually learned how to flirt back and, well, it was disastrous. Because now Jiang Cheng had to deal with a blushing, sputtering Wei Wuxian who also didn’t know how to deal with Lan Wangji like this. 

So Wei Wuxian did the thing that he thought would work out the most. He ramped up his teasing and flirting, hoping to fluster the stoic Lan Wangji just like in high school.

But Lan Wangji’s reaction to Wei Wuxian’s shameless attitude was heated, intense stares that no one - except someone as dense as Wei Wuxian - mistook for sincere lust appreciation of Wei Wuxian’s......various assets. 

They continued like this back and forth until it all came to a head one day in the cafeteria.

Wei Wuxian had been eating a sandwich drenched in chili oil and mayonnaise and just a few bites in, the mayonnaise had dripped down the side of his arm. Jiang Cheng had scolded Wei Wuxian for making a mess and planned on handing him napkins. But.....

But the utter gremlin locked eyes with Lan Wangji and licked all the mayonnaise up in one slow, long stripe.

Jiang Cheng had one, horrified moment to think, what the fuck, before Lan Wangji abruptly stood up and dragged his horrible, horrible older brother out of the cafeteria.

And when they reappeared after the lunch bell tolled, no one mistook the flushed and rumpled look for anything else other than what it was. 

Jiang Cheng was not going to name it and preferred to ignore it if not for the fact that he was carefully crafting ways to murder Lan Wangji for defiling his brother. But......

Jiang Cheng sighed.

But he noticed the smile of contentment on his brother’s face and their intertwined hands and decided to leave the shovel talk for later.

The first time Jiang Wanyin noticed it, he choose voluntary, temporary blindness.

It wasn't often that Wei Wuxian came to visit his brother in Lotus Pier, given that Jiang Cheng and his husband had a somewhat antagonistic relationship. But there were times when Wei Wuxian wanted to check in on his brother whom he had just reconciliated with not too long ago.

That, and because they had a joint night hunt nearby and Jin Ling had invited the juniors to come along with him so they could rest a night or two at Lotus Cove. Wei Wuxian just shamelessly invited himself and his husband along without consulting with either Jin Ling or Jiang Cheng.

To be fair, Jiang Wanyin said nothing about their sudden appearance at his doorstep, just irritably telling Jin Ling to show his friends to the guest rooms. Without a word, Wei Wuxian followed after his brother, talking a mile a minute about how well Jin Ling did during the night hunt.

"Jiang Cheng did such a great job raising Jin Ling," Wei Wuxian praised, "Don't you think so, Lan Zhan?"

Lan Wangji said nothing, not even the customary 'Mn' that he used for every question directed at him.

Jiang Wanyin gave Wei Wuxian an annoyed look at the unnecessary flattery.

And then, his eyes fell to Wei Wuxian's partially open collar.

There was a bitemark on Wei Wuxian's collarbone.

For a moment, he thought that his brother had been attacked by a dog and became simultaneously concerned and angry. Concern for Wei Wuxian despite his brother looking untraumatised (He knew Wei Wuxian was very good at masking his hurts and injuries) and angry at Lan Wangji for not protecting his cynophobic brother from dogs.

Then, after a double take, he realised that it was the bitemark of a human.

Immediately, that concern turned into disgust. This was his brother! Like, ew. But the anger remained, because like, What the hell, Lan Wangi!???

So, he turned away and ignored it. Like he ignored his brother's constant ranting.

When they got to Wei Wuxian's old room (untouched even after all the years), Lan Wangji pulled Wei Wuxian away, clearly intent on retiring for the night.

"Good night, Jiang Cheng!"

Jiang Cheng grunted, lifting one hand up.

He hoped he didn't have to see that again.

Unfortunately, the heavens had never been kind to him so why would they start now?

When Wei Wuxian appeared at breakfast that morning, there was another bitemark on him. This time, it was on the side of his neck, a place that was hard to cover up with his collar, even more so with Wei Wuxian's perpetual low neckline.

He tried to ignore it again at first but by afternoon, he exploded.

His brother came to lunch with not one, not two, but FOUR BITEMARKS!

"Are you a dog!?" Jiang Cheng shouted at Lan Wangji, who stared at him expressionlessly. "Stop biting him! He's not your chew toy!"

"Haiya, Jiang Cheng! Why are you shouting about this!?" Wei Wuxian exclaimed, putting his hands on his red face. "If my hubby wants to show me his love, then it is no one's business but our own. No need to involve other people by broadcasting it. And to call my husband a dog. Really!"

At that reprimanding tone, Jiang Cheng wanted to throw his hussy of a brother into the nearest lotus pond.

Instead, he opted to kick them both out of Lotus Cove.

He wasn't worried about offending either of them. He knew that they would be back. Well, his brother will be back and Lan Wangji would just tag along.

Because his brother was shameless that way, and Lan Wangji was equally so.

It was early. Not for Lan Zhan, of course, or his brother. Perhaps not even for Nie Mingjue, who Lan Zhan understood from Nie Huaisang’s whining liked to train with his disciples at what Huaisang had dubbed ‘an ungodly time’.

The rest of them, however, were clearly affected by the hour. Jin Zixun’s head kept sagging toward his chest, and while Jin Zixuan was standing straight, he was blinking too often for it to be chance. Even Nie Huaisang, apparently used to his brother dragging him out of bed early, was trying to hide a yawn behind his fan.

“Huaisang,” Nie Mingjue said, standing over the table.

“Yes, Da-Ge?” Nie Huaisang yelped, straightening and attempting to look as though his eyes had not been drifting closed.

Nie Mingjue scowled, though Lan Zhan caught his brother hiding a fond smile. “Where is the tiger?”

There was a beat of silence. And then Huaisang laughed nervously.

“What tiger?” he asked, waving his fan.

Nie Mingjue sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose. “You know exactly what tiger, Huaisang. Where is it?”

Out of the corner of his eye, Lan Zhan noticed Jin Zixun perking up, expression turning superior as he settled back to enjoy the scolding. Lan Zhan frowned.

“Oh,” Nie Huaisang said, with that same nervous laugh. “That tiger. Um, I’m sure he’s around. I didn’t realise I was supposed to bring him to the meeting.”

Nie Mingjue’s scowl grew deeper, taking on a tinge of deep exasperation. Jin Zixuan shifted a little nervously. Clearly Lan Zhan was not the only one who realised how foolish it was to allow such an unnatural creature to roam amongst them.

“You’re ‘sure’?” Nie Mingjue said, rounding on his brother. “You mean you don’t know?”

Summary: Jiang Cheng wakes up to a perfectly fine, perfectly normal day... and a six year old brother-in-law. It falls to him to take care of Lan Wangji, who has only just lost his mother, is wary of being touched, and doesn't ask as many questions as he should. Can Jiang Cheng put history aside or will old bitter memories get the better of him?

My comments: Ah, this was so sweet.

Excerpt: A-Zhan carefully inspects the dozens of stuffed pandas, dragons, and monkeys, and eventually reaches for – a plush watermelon. It has, horrifyingly, arms and legs, as well as one single glass bead as an eye. The other eye is missing, probably fell down out of shame over being part of such a crappy toy.

“That one,” A-Zhan says.

Although he has learned a lot today, Jin Ling proves that he still has a long way to go by saying, “Really? Are you sure? But they have way better ones!”

Jiang Cheng wholeheartedly agrees, but he also knows this is not going to work. Predictably, A-Zhan shakes his head, clutches the creepy watermelon thing to his chest, and repeats, “That one.”

“Fine,” Jin Ling says, paying for it like he promised while A-Zhan cuddles the toy triumphantly. One of its arms falls off; undeterred, A-Zhan picks it up, brushes off the dirt, and clumsily reattaches it. Watching him like this, Jiang Cheng is suddenly struck by a revelation. For the first time, he thinks he knows just how Lan Wangji could fall in love with someone as terrible as Wei Wuxian.
