to be hero x kinda plays with a hierarchy of sexuality as it explores misogyny. So straight > gay men > lesbians. it's why luo li is played as a rebellious lesbian and her armor blocks out both fear and trust; she rejects society. On the otherhand, Nice is such an assholeish victim because he should be benefiting from the privileges of being a man, but his sexuality knocks him down a peg.

the thing is nice is stuck in an incredibly hostile workplace with a boss who threatens him and ignores his boundaries yet he can't leave because he knows just how dangerous his field is and what risks might befall him and his boyfriend if he were to leave it. shang de on the other hand is dealing with the emotional turmoil of grief and newfound rage at his employee who just so happens to have his dead son's face and he's decided to do vaguely pseudo-incestous humiliation rituals with his employee about it. and then nice kills himself about it
