¿Te sientes bien? "¡No!.. ¡Estoy Perfecta! Oyendoles y viendoles," Fueron las palabras de Doña Begoña un día después de la cirugía y caminando con su nueva prótesis total de cadera. Con 90 años ella quiere seguir activa como antes y movilizarse luego de tener una artrosis severa. Ella luchó por quedarse en Venezuela e igual que nosotros seguiremos aquí por nuestros pacientes. Un reemplazo total de cadera es un procedimiento quirúrgico que reemplaza la articulación de la cadera, incluyendo el acetábulo (la cavidad de la cadera) y la cabeza del fémur. El cartílago y el hueso de esta articulación se han desgastado debido a la artritis o a la enfermedad degenerativa de la articulación. Cuando un reemplazo total de cadera es necesario, el cartílago de la articulación esta desgastado. El hueso debajo del cartílago empieza a desarrollar espolones y varias irregularidades que producen dolor y que disminuyen la movilidad.  -// //- A total hip replacement is a surgical procedure that replaces the hip joint, including the acetabulum (hip socket) and the head of the femur.
