FRUGAL
SHE LAYETH HER HANDS TO THE SPINDLE, AND HER HANDS HOLD THE DISTAFF --Proverbs 31:19
Lord,
I’m thankful that You will supply all of our needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I am grateful You have give me a desire to care for my family and that You are blessing that desire into competence.
I confess there are times when I wish I could just go out and buy lots of new things for us to wear and items for our home. Please help me keep my eyes on You and not set my affection on the things of this world. Our society is so materialistic, it’s hard not to fall into that trap. Give me the willingness to make things, whenever I can.
I pray that You would bless my ability to see the possibilities in things around me. Help me be free from the habit of wanting everything new. Show me creative ways to restyle things we already have. Change my heart so that I will be happier with what I have made than if I had purchased it from a store.
Even in making things, the inclination is there to go out and buy costly materials. I know I have many possessions I don’t use or wear. Please give me ideas to utilize them in ways I can admire. I ask that You would advance my ability to design and give me courage to carry out my ideas. Please take away my fears that others will belittle my attempts.
If I have to shop for any supplies, lead me to the best bargains. Bless me with good deals, but don’t let me go crazy buying things just because the price is low.
I know You are the Master Designer. You have created all things. I think You must get a kick out of the fact that You fashioned man from the dust of the earth. Help me follow in Your footsteps and be more creative, myself.
Let me feel You close to me as I plan and work. I pray that You would be the source of all of my ideas and that I would never feel at a loss. Help me not to be impressed by labels, but instead let my work have the distinction of being blessed and anointed by You. Give me understanding—along with inspiration, so that all I make will reflect my fellowship with you.
