First time at Providence Pride and it was so much fun
I am transformed. Literally. I am renewed. THANK YOU PROVIDENCE, RI! I have rarely seen a #Pride celebration – or ANY celebration – that was as remarkably inclusive, diverse, and embracing as #ProvidencePride. It was my first time at #Providence Pride, but won’t be my last. What struck me most was the incredible permeability. No one was left out. The energy and welcome was everywhere; you didn’t have to hold any sort of privilege to be part of it. You didn’t have to buy a ticket, or be identified with a certain group, or gain access to a specific place in order to be completely and utterly included in the day. And isn’t inclusion what the movement is meant to engender? Inclusivity to create compassion and help avoid human tragedies – tragedies that I have personally witnessed, and which deeply identify me with this movement. Punks hanging out with business types. Homeless dancing among the partiers. Brown, black, white, and every other race: a swirl. The alternately-abled, the young, the old, the undocumented, the introverted — everyone all in a mix without any imposed hierarchy, for just a few magical hours, leaking everywhere into the books and crannies of every street, alley, and sidewalk of this remarkable little city. I imagine there are other “major cities” that could learn something from this magical night of truth. My own #Boston has systematically rejected and nearly exterminated its middle class, which is where the heart of this movement thrives. All that is left is corporate cynicism and privileged ownership without welcoming inclusion. So it was vital and rejuvenating to be embraced by a celebration held on a massive scale, so incredibly and evidently permeable across all levels of diversity; income level, education, race, gender, even style and personality. My cynicism is melted. This is what the Dream of Pride is meant to be. Inclusion. Humor. #Compassion. #Love. Love winning everywhere. I’m grateful that I found in this “Toy City” what the brash, arrogant metropolises have failed to sustain. Happy Pride, world. Happy pride, Providence. Thank you for keeping it real, accessible, permeable, light, and loving as fuck. ◻️ #akaXN #TheRealXN (at Providence, Rhode Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/Byyq-J4HKop/?igshid=tbcllsgl7vjc
Yesterday I ran into this freaking fierce queen, @misslailamcqueen! She was so nice and wonderful and I was so star struck and could not put words together to form any kind of sentence and she still agreed to take a picture with me. Life is wonderful and it’s a great time to be alive! ✨✨ • • • • #pride #prideweekend #rupaulsdragrace #season8 #werk #dragqueens #providencepride (at The Stable Providence)

Ten hours ago I was spinning Buugeng in front of tens of thousands of people, marching with Drum, Dance, & Flow at the #providencepride illuminated Pride parade. This morning I’m back in my favorite cliffside, no music, just feeling my flow and listening to nature. That’s what I love so much about Buugeng - it’s a perfect fit in both settings. #buugeng #buugengofinstagram #oceanview #nomusicneeded #natureflow
