PS4 Guide: Auto PKG Installer
Works on ALL PS4 firmwares
Requires: A PC and an USB stick (32GB or bigger).
This app has no GUI so simply install and opening WON'T WORK. READ THIS GUIDE CAREFULLY TO SEE HOW IT WORKS.
Retail PKG = Official games on disc and digitally from PS Store. FPKG = Pirated games.
This app is capable of installing Retail PKG's (NOT FPKG) of games you own digitally, updates, shortcuts and IDU demos. (NOT LUA demos)
As it can't install FPKG and Retail PKG's are locked if you don't own them (Missing license) this tool can't be used for piracy.
Best used in cases that:
- You're waiting for jailbreak but since you're firmware is no longer the latest you cant access PSN anymore and thus neither your digital games. If you can get hold of the PKG this tool will allows you to gain those games back.
- You have a new disc game but its on version 1.00 and its newest update is on a firmware past yours so installing that would brick the game. This tool allows you to install ANY update for any game you have.
This guide will explain the process step-by-step but i wont provide game PKG files since that's illegal. I will however make a separate guide later on how to find those yourself and how to gain update pkg files since thats a whole topic on itself. Just be sure to get all this done in preparation for that.
Downloads Premium Backup: https://www.mediafire.com/file/g5vbmctwmxpfe83/Andrew2007%20Premium%20Backup.rar Auto PKG Installer: https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/xs3236fkpevxdvx/Auto_PKG_Installer.rar/file
The video below shows how the installer is used however here its used in combination with a jailbreak so that's how he installs FPKG with it. My tutorial under the video is for consoles WITHOUT jailbreak.
WARNING: INSTALLING THE PREMIUM BACKUP WILL FACTORY RESET YOUR PS4. ALL YOUR SAVES, TROPHIES, SCREENSHOTS, ACCOUNT ETC. WILL BE DELETED OFF THE CONSOLE. (Your PSN account will still exist but will need need to be logged back in later. Not possible on older firmware btw)
For safety reasons we'll make a backup. Got an empty PS4 or dont care about losing your stuff? You can skip part 1.
---------------- Part 1: Personal Backup -----------------
Grab an USB stick. (Make sure it doesnt hold any important files) and stick it into the PS4.
Go into Settings > System > Backup Up and Restore > Back Up PS4. (If a popup about trophies shows up just click Yes)
Only the selection only choose Saved Data, Captures, Themes and Settings. Deselect Applications.
Click Next > Back Up. Let it do its thing. Once its completed you can return to the main Settings menu.
Here you go to Application Saved Data Management and saves all your saves on the USB. This might seem redundant but its good to have a different way of restoring your saves.
Save the files from USB stick on a safe place on your PC.
---------------------------------------------- Part 2: Installing the downloaded Backup ----------------------------------------------- 1. Download the Premium Backup from the link above in the download section.
2. Format your USB stick. Exfat is fine.
3. Unpack the Premium Backup rar and copy its files to the USB stick
4. On your PS4 navigate to Settings > System > Back Up and Restore.
5. Now plug in the USB stick
6. Click Restore and then choose the Premium Backup.
7. Let it do its thing and after its you got it installed!
---------------------------------------- Part 3: Using the Auto PKG Installer -----------------------------------------
Download the Auto PKG Installer files from above.
Format your USB stick. Exfat is fine.
Unpack the PKG installer rar and copy the files to the USB stick.
Also copy your PKG file (Separate guide on finding those coming soon.) to the USB stick.
This is what your USB stick should looklike. Delete any files not present here. 5. Now Plug the USB stick into the PS4. 6. Now boot up the Auto PKG Installer app. Should be present in your Library on any of the profiles from the Premium Backup. 7. Click the * star app next. It'll now install the PKG file from the USB stick.
Let it install and that'll be it! You've now successfully used the Auto PKG Installer!
Downgrading / Reverting
Downgrading is a method that lets you go from one firmware to a lower one.
This is ONLY possible for PS4. PS5 CANT be downgraded.
Downgrading is ONLY possible through soldering. Theres NO method that only requires an USB stick.
Do not mistake the System Restore/Backup feature present in Settings the PS4/5 have for downgrading. A backup does not contain firmwares.
Downgrading works by using the backup chip Sony put in place incase current firmware is corrupt. It allows the direct previous firmware to be installed again.
This is why this method is also limited in that you can't go from 12.52 to 9.00 if you were on 12.50 or others before updating to 12.52.
Dont know what firmware you were on prior? Watch this vid to see how you can find out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcyZyF8e7Wg
All PS4's have Automatic Updates on by default in Power Saving Settings which means that 99% off people who play normally and never even touch Settings go from update to update which is why for those people who are now on 12.52 this method be useless until 12.50 gets a jailbreak. This counts for future firmwares the same like 13.50 be useless to downgrade to 13.02 unless that firmware got a confirmed jailbreak.
The video made by the talented Modded Warfare will guide you through the process and what you need to buy to make it work. Do keep in mind that you need to be EXPERIENCED IN SOLDERING to even attempt this otherwise there's a high chance you will break something that bricks your console.
In some countries there's repair shops that are capable of doing this process so go to them if that's an option for you. Be aware that Nuvoton branded syscons manufactured from 2017 have been patched by Sony and thus CANNOT be reverted.

PS4 Guide: Cornholio Store (OUTDATED)
Notice: This guide is outdated. The store has been completely revamped. It now only requires installing 2 files from here: https://ko-fi.com/s/3b1963f246
So we all know why you wanted to jailbreak your PS4. This app here is what you're looking for. All FREE to use unlike that other store that starts with a G. Now lets start setting it up. Requirements: PC or Tablet/Phone & a jailbroken PS4 1. Go to https://ko-fi.com/s/ad9ea12dac
2. Type in 0 or if you wanna support the dev any amount you like and click "Get Now"
3. Type in fake info in the boxes and click "Checkout Now" 4. You'll be taken to the next page where you click "View Content" and then "Download". This'll download the app in a rar format. 5. Install 7zip or WinRAR. If you don't have one of those already. On phone you can use any File Manager and choose extract. 6. Extract the Cornholios Store PS4.rar file to a folder. 7. Now go to your PS4. Jailbreak it. 8. Enable internet. Preferably with a wired cable. 9. Open the GoldHEN menu thats on your home menu left, click Servers Settings and click Enable FTP Server. Write down the address code you see in the notification. 10. Back to PC: Install FileZilla and open it On phone install any FTP app from the Play Store/iOS store.
11. In FileZilla or the app of your choice fill in the fields Host and Port with the info you wrote down earlier and then click Quickconnect
12. You'll be greeted by the internal folders of your PS4. Double click on the data folder. 13. Create a new folder in there named pkg 14. Now copy the ED1633-CORN13337_00-0000000000000000-A0100-V0101.pkg file from the Cornholio Store rar to the new pkg folder.
15. Now go back to the GoldHEN menu and click Debug Settings.
16. Click Package Source and choose Hdd [ hdd:/data/pkg/ ]
17. Now click Package Installer and click the just copied pkg file. 18. It will now install the Cornholio Store app. After its done open it.
19. After its loaded you should close it and go back to FileZilla.
20. Navigate to data > FPKGi
21. Copy the config.json file from the extracted Cornholio Store rar to the FPKGi folder and overwrite the one thats there.
22. Now you're done with the FTP part. You can close your PC/Phone and disable FTP Server in GoldHEN Servers Settings.
23. Start up the Cornholio Store app on your PS4. It takes 10 - 15 seconds to fully load so don't be scared by the blank screen.
24. Once its fully loaded you can select anything from it and download it with controller button X. The list may seem small but don't worry. More stuff is added regularly and hey its free so why complain? Special thanks to Darren for setting up this store.
Beginners Guide for Preparing for PS4 Jailbreak
Are you finding yourself regretfully on the latest firmware? Read this guide.
You can't jailbreak. That's a fact.
So what can you do? Here's a few options:
Wait for jailbreak. This means staying offline when a new firmware arrives. Thus you'll be waiting 3-5 years without access to online gaming, the PSN store and the newest releases. These features are ONLY available on the latest firmware which you can't be on if you want jailbreak.
Downgrade your PS4. This really depends on the current situation. Like for example at the time of writing 13.02 has no jailbreak but 13.00 has been confirmed to get one soon so downgrading makes sense! It isn't for the faint hearted however. I made a guide you can follow here: HERE
Selling your PS4 and buying one on a lower firmware. Ofcourse you can also keep your current PS4 and use it for online play while you buy the jailbreakable one for jailbreak. It depends on your financial situation. With buying look preferably for a Slim or a Pro between 5.00 - 12.52.
This guide is for people who choose #1 Waiting for jailbreak
First things first read this to understand the terms we use here in the community read THIS POST
Most of the videos you'll see here is the process of how you can jailbreak with these userlands which obviously you can't do BUT it'll give you a view on how you will do it once your firmware is supported by them. Try setting them up as far you can to verify the userland part works for you, the jailbreak part (GoldHEN and such) WONT work for now.
Step 1: Install the Auto PKG Installer
This is a really handy tool you'll be using. I made a guide for installing it here: HERE
Remember after the whole process to log back into your account and use Remote Play once to activate it.
Step 2: Install LUA
To jailbreak in the future you NEED an userland. One of those is LUA and it's one of the few ones which is free if you set it up NOW. You can't set the free LUA demo up anymore once a new firmware releases.
This video explains how to get the demo however ONLY Hamadashi Creative Demo is still online. The publisher purged ALL other LUA games so it's vital to get this one before it disappears too. Here's the LINK if you have trouble finding it.
Remember after the whole process to set the Japanese account as Primary by going into Settings > Account > Activate as Primary to ensure the demo won't get locked later.
Step 3: Install Mast1core
Now this is a special userland. It has an extra feature that can be used without jailbreak: Run any PS2 game within it.
As can be seen in the video this one does come with a price tag. Thankfully the game usually is on sale for $10 or less. It's important to actually buy this game and NOT get the PS PLUS version as that one will not work later. There's no disc of the Okage: Shadow King game so it's important to get the digital version ASAP while you're on the latest firmware.
Do know support is quite slow so it's possible you can't set it up yet but that's alright. It'll be added later. You should still get the game now though.
Step 4: YARPE/Renpy (OPTIONAL)
This one is basically LUA but a western one! It however can only be done with an EU/PAL version of the game Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers.
The game A Year of Springs can also be used across multiple regions.
I advise reading the GitHub page
Step 5: Media Apps
You might have already heard but certain media apps like YouTube and Netflix have been successfully used to make an userland off to jailbreak with.
On PS4 however to do that they need a license which means you need to have downloaded them.
For the exploit and the download you don't need accounts/subscriptions to any of these services. You only need to have the free app they offer in the PSN store. So download Netflix & YouTube first but after that any other free media app the store has! Theres always a chance they can used later for jailbreak.
Download them also on the Japanese account you made for LUA. Always good to have a backup due to Primary account shenanigans.
Step 6: Protecting the PS4 Sony's new DRM system makes it so that ANY digital item you buy on PS4/5 will have a 30 day timer after which if you were to stay offline it expires and locks said games making them unusable. This however can be avoided if you stay online 15 days after the purchase and start the game on the final day. Then youll get a permanent license. There's however a possibility a new firmware releases during that time window and that your connection to PSN gets blocked and thus you can't receive you permanent license. Nothing to do against that except doing this guide ASAP to be ahead of that. Existing purchases from prior March 2026 arent affected by this new system btw.
Once that a new firmware arrives your console will try to update which we absolutely do not want.
First we wanna do is go into Settings > Power Saving > Features in Rest Mode and DISABLE ANYTHING that that downloads/updates from the internet. Just dont let it connect to the web at all in rest mode.
Second (After you gotten your permanent licenses) is setting up a DNS that prevents PSN altogether. That way new firmware updates can't even reach your console. This'll also however disable game updates, access to the PSN Store, PS+ and online play so that's why I saved it for last. These things won't work anymore anyway once a new firmware arrives so it's best to get used to now anyway.
Still, before you do this go download any games / DLC to keep you busy with in the time while you wait for jailbreak.
Setting up the DNS: Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection > Use Wifi or LAN Cable (depending on what you use) > Custom > Your Wifi Network or cable > IP Adress: Automatic > DHCP Host Name: Do Not Specify > DNS Settings: Manual > Set Primary to 165.227.83.145 and Secondary to 192.241.221.79 > MTU: Automatic > Proxy server: Do Not Use > Test Internet Connection. If the IP Adress succeeds and PSN Sign in fails then you've set it up correctly!
Third and finally if you're reading this and a new firmware just came out and is trying to download you should disable internet NOW and go to Notifications to delete the new update. After a restart you also won't have that pesky update pop-up anymore anytime you start a game.
So that's all! Be patient and just enjoy games on disc meanwhile. One final tip: if you're buying new games they won't work on older firmware so always be sure to check https://orbispatches.com/ and look at the lowest update to see what the lowest firmware the game supports!
PS4 BD-JB: New entrypoint for up to 12.50
New entrypoint accidentally released by Genzine
This is NOT a new jailbreak on its own. Its a new way to access existing jailbreaks.
Genzine already submitted another Bluray exploit to Sony that works up 12.52 but release of that one wont be till over 8 months to a year.
TheFlow has also submitted his own version of a bluray exploit that also works up to 12.50. Further details unknown. Release also unknown. Genzine tried guessing what TheFlow did to get his and then TheFlow responded with this:
So then we reached the point we now have 3 different Bluray exploits. With 1 already being released. https://github.com/Gezine/BD-JB-1250
This entrypoint can and has been chained with Lapse making it possible to jailbreak with a burned bluray disc up to 12.02
12.50 and 12.52 CAN'T be jailbroken using this since there is no known kernel exploit for those firmwares and there wont be for years to come
Follow Genzin's advice:
For people on 12.02 or lower: DON'T UPDATE.
I'll make a guide once an ISO with Lapse fully working on it is released. In the meantime buy yourself a Blu-ray burner and a pack of BD-R(E) discs. For USA: Burner: https://a.co/d/3w0pyP5 - $46.99 Discs: https://a.co/d/8t8DnTo - $23.67 For UK: Burner: https://amzn.eu/d/dvywF8z - £49.74 Discs: https://amzn.eu/d/cBfDWOw - £14.99 Note: BD-R discs can only written to ONCE while BD-RE discs can used MULTIPLE times. Keep in mind that after the ISO is out it will be still be updated with improvements regarding crashes and newer versions of GoldHEN which means you'll need to burn a new disc everytime that happens. Thats why its cheaper and better to get your own burner.
Jailbreak Terms Explained
Firmware: The system update version of the PS4/5. Can be found in Settings > System > System Info.
Vulnerability: a weak point in the system that could be exploited.
Exploit: a found weak point thats been confirmed to make into something usable (not always a jailbreak)
Userland Exploit: an exploit that can be activated through the system UI or through a game of the PS4/5. Think a settings page or webbrowser.
Kernel Exploit: an exploit that leverages critical system functions. The most important exploit.
Hypervisor Exploit (PS5): Gives PS4 level of acces to kernel functions. Allows native PS4 homebrew, PS4 Fpkg and Linux on a PS5. Only has been released up to 4.51 but there is a private one that works up to 12.70.
A53/MP4 Exploit (PS5): An exploit for the chip that handles PS5 games. Gives us native PS5 Fpkg and homebrew. Works up to 2.70.
Jailbreak (PS4): a combo of an userland and kernel exploit that gives the end user access to homebrew and backups.
Jailbreak (PS5): JB for PS5 comes in various degrees:
1. Userland + kernel: you get homebrew access and debug settings.
2. Userland + kernel + Kstuff: gives acces to playing PS5 backups by folder and PS4 fpkg without DLC.
3. Userland + kernel + hypervisor: Full PS4 fpkg game compatibility.
4. Userland + kernel + a53: Full PS5 fpkg compatibility
Retail PKG (Pkg): Official game files. Always needs license to run.
Fake PKG (fpkg): (installable) Custom game files. Can be played only with jailbreak. Main way to play game dumps.
Fake Fake PKG (ffpkg) (PS5): Loading PS5 game dump as a file instead of a folder. This method compresses them into a single file that can be mounted (not installed) and then loaded through Dump Runner or Itemzflow. The compression doesn't make the dump smaller however, it instead increases the folder dump size by ~20%.
ExFAT (PS5): Successor of ffpkg. Keeps the same size as folder dump. Let some game that didn't work as folder dump on the internal drive work! Works on Dump Runner & Shadowmount Plus.
License (Rif): Official file containing entitlement info. File can't be injected or edited through FTP. Only extracted but it's useless like that. Official way to get them on your console is through PSN Store. Discs contain them aswell but those can't be transferred to the console.
Kstuff (PS5): Workaround that allows loading of higher level homebrew and PS4 fpkg/PS5 game folder loading without need of hypervisor and a53 exploits. However this method is very heavy on the system and can cause crashes aswell needing to be disabled manually for a large sum of PS5 games to be able to be run without problems. It's not ideal but it's still genius they thought of this otherwise we STILL be stuck without game backups.
WebKit Exploit: an userland exploit that can be accessed through the browser. Very hard to find on higher firmwares. Can very easily be patched by Sony.
PSFREE: a WebKit exploit. Only works on PS4 up to 9.60 and PS5 up to 5.50.
Y2JB (PS5): Userland exploit that uses the YouTube app of the PS5. Requires app version 1.03 but can easily be downgraded to or have another region version installed next to your own one. Works up to 12.40. Sony patched the exploit 0n 12.60 by giving media apps a license requirement.
LUA: For PS4/5 this term is referred to certain Japanese games that use the Artemis Engine. Through LUA code in the save file these games can be used as an userland exploit. Works on every firmware.
Vue (PS4): Discontinued video stream system app from Sony. Has been hacked to be used as userland. Can be installed using extended storage. Works up to 13.04
BD-JB (PS4): an userland exploit exclusive to the PS4. Requires a burned BD-R(E) (Blu-ray) disc to use. CD or DVD's CANNOT be used for this. Works from 9.00 up to 12.50 but with the bdjstack fix can also work up to 13.02.
BD-J (PS5): an userland exploit exclusive to the PS5. Requires a burned BD-R(E) (Blu-ray) disc to use. CD or DVD's CANNOT be used for this. Works up to 7.61 to but with the bdjstack fix can also work up 12.00 this is called unpatching. You can currently also unpatch up to 12.70 but there's no use for it.
IPV6 (PS5): a kernel exploit exclusive to PS5. Works up to 4.51.
UMTX (PS5): a kernel exploit exclusive to PS5. Works up to 7.61.
Exfat Exploit (PS4): kernel exploit exclusive to PS4. Requires an USB stick. Works up to 9.00.
Pppwn: userland & kernel exploit in one. Exclusive to PS4. (Though theoretically could work on PS5) Requires an Ethernet cable & and a PC or the P4 Tool. Works up to 11.00.
Lapse: kernel exploit. Works on PS4 up to 12.02 and PS5 up to 10.01.
Poopsploit: kernel exploit. Works on PS4 up to 13.00 and PS5 up to 12.00. Not very stable and doesn't work with all known userlands with the exception of WebKit, Mast1core and BD-J. Luac0re has been specifically made to get this kernel this work on PS5. On PS4 it's advised to only use this kernel on 12.50 - 13.00. For 12.02 and lower use Lapse. It's much more stable.
P2JB (PS5): Kernel exploit thats exclusive to PS5. Short for "Patient to jailbreak" and you definitely gonna need it since it takes 2 hours to load this one. Everytime. Chained with LUA it can be brought back to 55 minutes. Works with every userland up to 12.70.
Mast1core: userland exploit. Requires the PS2 Classic game Okage: Shadow King (Digital only). Has the added bonus that it can run every PS2 game and PS2 homebrew without jailbreak. Works up to PS4 13.04 and PS5 7.61. On PS5 it has been largely patched so a workaround is still in progress by Gezine.
Luac0re (PS5): Custom version of Mast1core specifically made to get Poopsploit to work on PS5 10.20 - 12.00. Can run a NES emulator. Requires the PS4 (not PS2) Star Wars Racer Revenge disc and works as userland up to 13.20.
Yarpe/Renpy: userland. Uses the games Arcade Spirits: The New Challenger and A Year of Springs to load jailbreak through a save exploit. You don't need both games. Either one will work. Works on both PS4 and PS5 starting from PS4 9.60. Hasn't been patched.
HenVTX (PS4): homebrew environment. Can be used to install fpkg and homebrew, load cheats and more.
GoldHEN (PS4): homebrew environment. More expanded version of HenVTX.
etaHEN (PS5): homebrew environment. Can be used to load Plugins and now has added WebMAN which gives a quick menu to PS5 backup folder loading. Has loads of other features.
IDU/Kiosk Mode: a mode that turns the PS4 into one you see displayed in stores basically. It factory resets your system and brings you into a limited environment that only allows the installation of demo games. (This does not allow you to install LUA demo games).
