hey btw!!!
if your phantom shifts are (routinely)
> painful
> causing you to feel sick
> emotionally distressing
> accompanied by drastic mood changes (anger, deep or lasting depression, mania for example)
> accompanied by deep seated, and/or unexplainable fear that something or someone is going to hurt you
> accompanied by feelings of deep confusion, or feeling like you're in a dreamlike state (not necessarily dissociation), or are unable to recall things abt yourself/your environment like your address, age, what month/year it is, or where you are
> accompanied by periods where taking care of yourself is very difficult for you for any reason (e.g. showering, dressing, accessing food and eating it)
that’s not the average alterhuman experience.
i’m not saying you’re sick and need help if any or several of these apply to you. but if it’s impeding your quality of life and/or it's an overall negative experience, there are often options you have to make your shifts more manageable (if that’s something you want. it's ok if you don't want to do that either)
footnote: this is not an exhaustive "warning" list. these are things i frequently experience in my day to day life as part of my psychosis and part of my nonhuman identity.
footnote two: medication or therapy is not the only option you have, and it is often not a 'fix all' by itself without community outside of a clinical setting.
