Pseudo-mystical nonsense cleanly now.
The slogan “there is no I” becomes absurd once you actually look at how experience works. Because if the experience of “I” appears that’s something. And denying it is just another thought in the same field.
When “I” shows up, that’s what’s happening. When “I decide to improve,” that’s what’s happening. When “I stop,” that’s what’s happening. The so-called illusion of I is not that “I” appears; it’s that people imagine there’s a thing behind it that must be eliminated or purified. But the “I” is just one mode the field takes like a wave in water. You don’t need to kill the wave to know it’s water.
Nothing changes in the ultimate sense because it was always water; yet waves rise and fall. The “I” can act, decide, get tired, or vanish all within the same substance.
So the correction isn’t “there is no I.” It’s that the I is not separate. It’s not an independent owner but a momentary formation of experience, doing what it does, namely deciding, improving, contradicting, reflecting. That’s just physics applied to consciousness; flow reorganizing itself and, occasionally, saying “I.”
