You may have noticed a (tragic?) lack of screencap-laden Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters rants recaps on your dash recently. Yes, it’s me, your chronically ill YGO recapper, back from another unexpected hiatus, but THIS time there’s a twist...

This most recent hiatus was because I am pregnant! 

And it was a difficult first trimester and also we got evicted from our house and I’m only a bit over halfway through this pregnancy and I already visited the hospital so often I lost count... But now everything looks normal and good and I also have more energy and no more pain, so I’m back!! 

Fingers crossed this baby is born with bright blue hair or something so I know they’ll grow up to become an anime protagonist <3

Usually I set aside a day or two near the end of the month to do recaps but it’s not happening this month, due to suffocating illness all week x,x (I was like, sigh, I always seem to be posting BAD news, but that’s because when things are going well for me, I just post recaps, not a blow-by-blow account of my wavering health...) Anyway, ugh.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get the next episode out next week instead. Also I have some fic things I want to be working on, if I could just get some time where I can sit upright and focus on a screen...

so the BAD news is I’ve been so sick I couldn’t travel to my summer school but the GOOD news is I’m home recuperating instead of travelling soooooo expect an unexpected recap tonight!

I have a chronic illness, regular readers will know, and April has been really bad. I got really sick at the start of April and basically only got better last week, at which point, obviously, every commitment I had came and hit me in the face at once.

There’ll be a recap tonight and another probably tomorrow. The patreon is what makes the recaps happen: if it wasn’t for my incredible patrons, I would not have been able to do a recap today, but because the patreon exists, I could afford to postpone some paid work to do some YGO times. If you like recaps and want them to happen, please consider joining the patreon. I also have a ko-fi, if a one-time thing is more your vibe!

Playing With Fire will update on the 18th of May, barring further illness!
