The storm makes the power go out, leading to a scared Jiwoo and mom Irene
Irene suddenly got woken up by the sounds of thunder. She rubbed her eyes, looking at the clock seeing it read 3:00 am. She was about to go back to sleep, when she realized that Jiwoo was alone.
Wendy and Jiwoo were roommates in their dorm arrangement and whenever a storm happened, Wendy would happily welcome Jiwoo into her bed. Since Wendy had been in her accident, Jiwoo was alone in the middle of a dark and loud night, her worst nightmare.
Irene yawned, grabbing her robe and walking out of her room. She walked over to Jiwoo’s dorm and quietly opens it. With the help of Jiwoo’s night light, she sees a shaking Jiwoo, hiding under her blankets.
“Jiwoo?”
Jiwoo gasped, taking the blankets off her head. “You scared me! Don’t do that, please.”
“I’m sorry.” Irene said as she sat down by Jiwoo. “I was trying to be quiet so I wouldn’t scare you more. But I guess that didn’t work!”
Jiwoo made no attempts to laugh at Irene trying to lighten the mood. As Jiwoo was about to speak, a big lightning strike hit and Jiwoo’s night light went out. Jiwoo quickly pulled the blankets over her head, cursing at herself for letting Irene see her like this.
Jiwoo hated telling people how she felt, especially when her feelings put her in a vulnerable place. It didn’t matter that Irene was trying to help, because the longer she stayed there, the worse it would make Jiwoo feel.
“Uh, what does Wendy normally do when this happens?” Irene asked.
Jiwoo took a minute to calm herself down before answering, “Um, she normally just holds me. Sometimes she gets me some water, but I have some right now.”
Irene grabs Jiwoo’s water bottle, which had fallen on the floor, and gathered Jiwoo up in her arms. She brought the blankets away from her face, so Jiwoo wouldn’t suffocate, and just kept holding her.
“Do you want some water now?”
Jiwoo shook her head, then realized that Irene couldn’t see in the dark. “No.”
Irene continued to hold Jiwoo, eventually falling asleep after the storm died down a little. Irene woke up with a kink in her neck, but tried not to make to many movements, so she wouldn’t wake up Jiwoo.
“Aww, that’s so cute!” Yeri mocked, standing by Jiwoo’s dorm frame. “I came to see if Jiwoo was up and I’m greeted by one of the cutest sights I’ve seen since Dumb Dumb!”
“Yeri, get out!” Irene whispered yelled. “If you wake her up, you’re in big trouble!”
“Fine, fine. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. And don’t worry, I already got plenty of photos when you guys were asleep!”
